A few years ago we finally started taking a family vacay in the summers to Hilton Head Island. I used to go there growing up so I just love that place. It feels like home to me. :beat This year I don't think we are really doing anything other than going up to Chicago in the Summer for CHA I hope!!

Do you take a regular vacation? Do you go the same place or mix it up???

We LIKE to go to the Outer Banks and rent an oceanfront house for the week. But with 5 kids, we can't always (or even often) afford it. So we mostly just hang out at home. :giggle

I don't camp, so that's out. Dh does take the kids sometimes, or I'll camp in the backyard with access to my house and shower and toilet. LOL

In the summer we usually go to our camp/cottage for a few weekends and spend some time fishing and hanging out with my parents. It's in the same area that my grandparents' used to own a camp ground where people could rent cottages so for me it's like home and my boys love it. But we also always do a little family trip of about 2 or 3 days and we usually pick something different every time. Last year we went to Ottawa and headed to the Calypso water park with our boys and they had so much fun. We also stayed and my sister's so it was kind of a double visit kind of thing. I'm not sure what we're doing this year because I think we may be going to Disney next year... I can't wait for that! :)

Wow! Can I come????

We haven't done much at all in the past few years, but last year we did manage to squeeze in a trip to Alaska during the summer - it was fantastic! When I was growing up, we always used to go to the same places, and I loved it. But we haven't had a regular summer vacation in a while now.

We haven't taken a real vacation in such a long time. I was in one grad school program the last couple of years and had to take trips to England and New Jersey [I know... such torture to *have to go* to England ;) ] for 10-day residencies, so I didn't have any other vacation time. My DH met me in NJ both trips so we had a couple of days together, but nothing with the kids/babies. Our kids are grown now, but my DD still wants to go places with us. Scheduling it is just a nightmare.

We used to go camping, but haven't done that in years either.

I'm hoping to plan a "family" vacation to Italy for 2015... but we'll see if it actually pans out.

I was just thinking about how I need to put in for time off during my birthday week, which I always take off, even though I don't really go anywhere. I'm lucky to live so close to NYC so there are lots of fun things to do. :)
Disney World last year was the first big trip I took in awhile. A few years ago, I had been on some little trips with my digi friends to places like St. Louis or CHA where we all kind of meet up in the middle of things! For my next big trip, I want to save up to take my mom some place for her 60th birthday in two years - maybe a Disney cruise.

My son graduates high school this year, so it's his year to pick a trip for just he and I. My daughter picked a cruise three years ago for hers. Not sure what he'll pick!! I start doing income taxes on weekends this Saturday to pay for it.

We don't take a regular vacation per se. But we do try to visit family once a year if we can (so that's Chicago or Albuquerque) and sometimes we'll toss a fun something or another in there. When we were living in FL that "fun something or another" was Disney. Last year, now living in SW AZ we took a couple weekend "trips" to San Diego and to Phoenix for some zoo and food fun.

This year I'm saving for a CHA trip, which is also a trip home (Chicago) and I'm hoping I can make that wish come true. Especially if dear friends will be visiting too too. (hint hint hint)

What I'd really really love to do is take a vacation trip with just my DH someday. *longing sigh*

We take the RV and head out the week of or after July 4th and go camping with 4-5 other couples that we hang around with. We have a fantastic time and just let our hair down for a few days. Always fun!

I'm not a huge traveler. Mostly because I hate planes, so anywhere too far to drive is out for me, at least till all the kids are grown and out of the house. We do a lot of vacations in the spring/summer though, but they are mostly camping. We might throw a zoo or science museum day trip in the mix, but it is almost always camping, because that is what we prefer. It is cheap and fun and relaxing. To me, I can't stomach spending thousands on a week of luxury so we stick to bargain type vacays.

Nothing regularly. When the kids were small, it was a drive to California to see family. My dh is in construction, so we could only take vacations when he was off work...he never wanted to leave a job if they were busy. We've done lots of trips...taken them to Alaska, my dh took the older boys to do some baseball up in Seattle, we've taken them to DC a few times, Europe with one of the boys, etc...

Now that they all work or are in school, it's crazy trying to plan a family anything.

we are keeping things simple this year. . . a drive to St. George for soccer tournament, Palm Springs for Spring Break, Bear Lake in July with extended family. . . stuff like that for this year.

We've taken the kids to Hawaii a few times and hoping to go back in 2013~ love that place!

DD and I usually take a 'vacation' and stay at my parents' for 5 or 6 days. A lot of my family is up there, so we really packed a lot in last year: the zoo, the lake/beach, family dinner, etc etc. I'm sure we will do that again this year... although DD tends to drive me crazy by the end of our time there as she's off schedule and never sleeps well at other people's houses. :)

I would like to be able to spend a few days at the same lake where DH's family used to have a lake house, but that depends on my getting a PT/FT job or DH going FT at work, so we'll see if that happens.

Going to CHA would be fun (although you have to have a vendor ticket to get in, don't you?!) since I could leave DD with my folks and take the train in, but I'm not counting on that.

We try and do a family vacation at least every 18 months. In Australia that is usually to the Gold Coast.

his year though as we are living in Malaysia for only a year we plan on lots of vacations. We have already been to Penang for 4 days, and Singapore for 4 days. We are planning on a week in Japan, 4 days in Cambodia, 4 days in Thailand and lots of weekend trips around Malaysia.

Our vacations usually consist of traveling back to Massachusetts to visit our families every 12-24 months. It was very expensive making the trip from CA but we're hoping to go once a year now that we'll just be driving from FL.

Sometime soon we'll take a Disney vacation because my 3 year old will love it. We'll go for a day for her 4th birthday but we really want to do a few days there at some point, or even a Disney cruise.

Our vacations usually consist either of a trip to Arkansas (family) or a trip to St. Louis (friends) or both. We're hoping to do some summer camping this year though. It would be nice to just get away for a weekend with just the three of us. I've also thought it would be nice to rent a summer cabin up in Wisconsin or Michigan, but haven't really looked into that.

Also wasn't there talk of a TLP Chicago get together at some point? That would be sooo fun!

Oh yes, we go to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with loads of family members, every year! This is where we go, and have been for 6 years now; It's an amazing all-inclusive resort called the Riu Jalisco(http://www.expedia.com/Puerto-Vallarta-Hotels-Riu-Jalisco-All-Inclusive.h897912.Hotel-Information?hashTag=picturesAndTours&mdpcid=21187-1.ExpediaHotelImages|%20ShowUserReviews|%20none&) We book our trip in January to depart in March, and then spend the three months prior shopping for and pumping each other up! It's the one big trip we take as a family every year and it's always loaded with fun and amazing memories. :-)
