Pad Patter 2/12 - Nicknames

My sister used to call me Nerd when I was little :giggle

ETA: My hubby calls me "B" and "honey". And of course there's "Mom" :)

I've got two nicknames:

Mel ~
Short for Melanie because my brother couldn't say Melanie when he was little.

Scrappy/Rotten's Core ~
DH's Road Name is Rotten so I'm Rotten's Core (because I wouldn't go with Rotten's Apple and I'm his Core). And I have Scrappy because #1 I scrapbook and #2 I got in a little scuffle with a woman a few years back who needed it as she was out-of-control talking some crap about my stepdaughter. Believe me, that was the one & only time that words were said that I took action.

I was often called 'booknerd' growing up.

I guess technically Becky is a nickname since my given name is Rebecca. Micah calls me Bec, that is about it for nicknames.

My husband and a few close friends call me Mel. Growing up I didn't have a nickname...other than my best friend who called me Melvin (because she could! :giggle )

Oh...I guess I'm sometimes referred to as Mrs. Wombat. My husband's online name (and email address) is cyberwombat. So some of his friends refer to me as Mrs. Wombat.

Growing up, all my friends called me Kelley with the exception of 1 friend who called me Kel. My mother called me darlin through high school, lol.

My Dad always used to call me Leah-bia, but that's about it.

DH calls me Hot Mama, Mama, George...the kids sometimes call me hot mama too.

I have lots of names for my kids - Sydney is Turbo because when she was little we bought one of those kid-sized quads and she always had it on "turbo". lol
Livia - we call her Sparky because, like a spark, she starts everything. lol Sometimes we say it's because she's our little firecracker.
Ethan - we call him The Boy. It's always "the girls...the girls...the girls" and it sounded weird saying "the girls and Ethan", so now we just say "The girls and the boy". The Boy.

When I was pregnant with Ethan, Livia couldn't pronounce Ethan. It was "baby effin" (haha)

I had so many nicknames growing up --- Lee, LeeBli, Leeander Gander, Leejo Peejo, Landra. Anything but my given name (which is phonetic, but evidently scares people with the double capitalization into thinking they can't say it), and no, 'Andra' is not my middle name, but part of my first name.

No one really calls me a nickname now. DH will call me babe, honey, etc. SS calls me by first name as does my family. Monkey, of course, calls me Mama and Mommy. I go by 'LA' online just because it's less letters for everyone else to type.

I *love* nicknames. If I have one for you, it prolly means I like/love you a whole bunch.

That's how my husband is . . . if he really likes you or cares, you get a nickname. He calls me by my middle name "Marie" and only he and my dad can do that~

I've also been called Tan, Banan (thus the username), and one guy in high school called me Tangent. (long story!)

Our kids have nicknames too. . . Our son is BigTime, 1st Daughter is Tweety and 2nd is Nugget.

These are great! My nickname has been Squid since I was three because I grew up in Hawaii and when my dad would go diving I would take the octopuses out of the bucket and put them on my head. I liked how cold and slimy they were and the feel of the tentacles on my cheeks. You can't call your kid "octopus" so my dad and his fishing buddies called me Squid. It was mildly embarrassing when I was a teenager but I really love it, mostly. My dad doesn't call me Liana unless he's about to tell me some bad news. My daughter has a bunch of nicknames and answers to all of them. I guess we'll have to narrow it down eventually so she doesn't get a complex. :)

I have had a bunch of nicknames. When I was a little girl, my dad used to call me Pineapple - no idea why! In 8th grade, because I was an early developer, my friends used to call me BT. (You can figure out what that stands for. LOL!) Then in high school, it was Chucky, because I look like the scary like the little evil doll. Some of my college friends called me a muppet (and I didn't even have that hat in my avatar) or Cuban cupcake because I'm short and silly (and half Cuban). My friends at the bar where I was a regular would call me Queen Cabana back when I was there all the time. People teasing me have called me Robin Hood, Robin Red Breast, Copa Cabana, Rockin Robin.

But my favorite nickname of all is one my oldest niece Taylor gave me. She almost 2 and she started calling for "Nonnie." We had no idea who she was talking to and then grabbed my hand. And that's what my nieces have called me ever since. It's silly, but I like it.

Mommy is really the only one.

A very, very select few people call me Shan. And my aunt calls me Shanny, but she's crazy.

I've always wanted one but never have really had one...oh, I guess my friend Luis called me "grasshopper" for a couple of months. But that was in secret and because he used to watch Kung Fu and was pretending to be my "master" and educate me on the matters of the heart and/or how to win Tim over. (We all worked together and he found out I had a big crush on Tim, so he had to school me and play matchmaker.) LOL.

Tim doesn't even call me anything, and doesn't even really ever say my name. It sounds so weird if/when he actually calls me Kim, it actually kind of creeps me out. LOL.

My husband and I don't call each other by name, either. Too creepy. I thought I was the only one on earth like that, then I found him. Weird.

I'm getting better about saying other people's names to their faces, but I still can't say his to him. lol

my siblings used to call me Lynnerd when we were young, and every once in a while they still do.

Two of my older brothers call me Cari... short for Caribou. I have an older brother named Bruce and when I was really young, like preschool age, I used to call him "Moose" and I thought it was sooooo funny. So he started calling me Caribou, then it just got shortened to Cari and he and my other brother still call me that.
