We are right in the middle of changing recycling programs in my neighborhood and it made me wonder... how concerned are you with being green and ecofriendly?

We recycle everything that we can into different bins, which get picked up weekly. I use (mostly) green cleaning supplies. I try to take my reusable bags when I shop. We garden and compost. We switched to HiE and energy-saving appliances when we built our new house. I know there are things I should be doing better, but oh my, that long, hot shower is hard to give up.

I am green when I can be. :) We garden and compost, we recycle when we can (it's not very convenient here...no glass recycling facility at all) There's a lot I could do better, but like I said, I am when I can. I even tried environmentally friendly diapers with Hugh even though they felt like they were made of "yack fur" -my husbands words, not mine- but baby Hugh has very sensitive skin.

we have 2 giant recycling bins and we recycle everything we can.
we have an energy efficient house with an energy monitor that tells how much you're using at any given time... very cool and makes it easy to see when something's been left on by mistake, etc.
we have water-saving toilets that have 2 flush levels :giggle true story. there's a button on top - you can push the smaller half for a low-water flush or the bigger half when more water is necessary. lovely.
other than that, i try to reuse or reduce waste as much as possible. i know there are about a million other things we could do as a family. as we are aware of them and can work on making the changes, we do.

We live out of the city limits so we have no recycling around here. I do take steps to save energy by doing all my errands before I go home, limit plastic sacks by combining items or taking bags, turn lights off when we're not in the room, etc. Wish we had a program for recycling, though. I think both DH & I are mini-conservationists by doing what we can with what we have.

Note: Totally Agree on the hot showers. Too hard to give up just yet. LOL

We try to recycle as much as we can. The town picks up glass, plastic, cans and paper and cardboard. I make an effort to bring reusable bags to the grocery store - when I remember them! And I grew my own veggies in the summer, which cut back on packaging and trips to the store. We try!

I have to admit, with no curbside pick up for my recycling, I'm not as proactive as I should be. We do have a recycling levy on all cans and bottles so they go to the depot to get money back,.. and our garbage bin only holds so much per week, so we hubby has been burning cardboard boxes in our backyard burning barrel... not that I think that is the most eco friendly way to do it, but again, it means more time to drive and drop it off, as our recycling of materials is not at the same place as our can/bottle depot.. crazy, IMO...

I am in the midst of switching cleaning products etc. to green brands though.

I hate to admit we aren't as green as we should.
We recycle everything that can be recyclable, we use re-usable bags for Grocery Shopping
We also have Energy Efficient Appliances

We recycle and thought we were conscious of the amount of energy we used in the house, but we had a energy consumption asessment where someone comes in and looks at your aplliances / globes etc and tells you where you can cut back. My husband showers too long and we are not good at turning tv/computer etc off at the power point. But all in all I think we are fairly green.

We are good about doing our recycling as our neighborhood provides us a huge bin and we have pickup once a week.

Same as everyone... I try as much as I can with recycling, energy efficient appliances as well as packing the kids lunches with reusable containers. The boys' school also has a "eco friendly" lunch once a week where everyone has to make an effort to bring al lunch that has nothing that can be thrown out in the garbage. Not easy in this world of lunch sized yogurts and cheeses... but we do it. :)

We try to be as green as we can but there is always more I think that we could be doing. Our recyling bin is always more full than the trash (we have a big bin) and we bring reusable shopping bags. We aren't as good with water as we could be...we have sprinklers in the yard and probably shower too long. Always room to improve... I do think it is important & want to teach my son why we want to be green.

We recycle paper, glass, metal and cardboard. We garden and compost. We use low energy appliances and light bulbs. We re-use the plastic shopping bags to clean/scoop the kitty litter. But I know there are so many more ways we could improve....

For those of you that take your own "re-usable shopping bags" - please be careful. I saw a news program that showed many of them carried harmful bacteria since most people don't wash them on a regular basis.
