If you could suddenly be in any profession you wanted, what would you choose?

I'm 44 and still trying to figure out what to major in. :giggle

At this point I'm leaning toward education administration. I love the educational process, but I don't want to TEACH because... kids... lol. So I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do here.

Is sitting at home, crafting and watching Netflix a profession?

I can't think of a single other profession that I would like as much as what I already do... so I guess I got lucky and picked the right one! (I do CAD - Computer Aided Design). I get to model stuff in 3D and then put together assemblies and create drawings so manufacturing can make each part. Then my favorite part is that I get to create assembly instructions for assemblies that our company makes... like creating the step by step instructions that come with Legos.

Something in the cooking field - own a bakery or restaurant, or be a personal chef, something along that line

i worked in NYC in finance before kids.... bleh! i'm still trying to figure it out too. some kind of design work for sure ... i started out as an art major but switched and i have regretted it ever since!

I have a few different thoughts and one is within my field anyway, but just a different angle. I'd like to run a home for teens who have nowhere to go and teach them basic social and life skills so they can go out on their own and lead a productive life.

Another thought would be to own a store something like a Pier One.

I always joke that I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do when my DD grows up (eeek only 4.5 years and she'll be old enough for college). I would love to go back to working in a library but I wasn't able to finish my Master's degree (life got in the way and now I'd have to start all over) and I don't know how easy it would be to get the job that I want without an MLS. We're small town here so maybe, but in a city it would never happen. I keep looking at college catalogs thinking I'll go for it again, but right now I just can't afford the $$$.

My bachelors degree is in theatre and I don't see myself ever going back to that full time. I loved it and miss it, but with DH's call schedule if I worked in theatre we'd never see each other..lol. Plus tech week was killer enough at 23 I think it just might do my body in at 40+.

These are the two areas that most of my outside the home work experience has been in. I have no idea what I'll wind up doing, but I'm pretty sure I'd feel guilty not working after DD graduates (heck, sometimes I feel guilty now but I love being able to stay home and homeschool).

To go back 20 years, and be the way i was, I would do nothing differant. Love being a housewife

I have plans to go back to school when my kiddos are older. I'll get my masters in social work and my LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) and work as a therapist. Still not sure what my area of focus will be though...

growing up all I wanted to be was a mom....freaky little kid!
I love my life, but.................
if
I was going to go a whole different route, I would be a lawyer or private investigator....Nancy Drew

When I was a kid, I wanted to be neurosurgeon! Once I started college, I wanted to be a college professor of literature or a book editor, but I love my job now. :wub

I am working on my second Masters and still can't figure it out. I would love to go to law school, but wouldn't really want to be a lawyer. LOL.

What I really want to do kind of conflicts with real life. Like I'd love to teach writing workshops where you travel to great places and spend a week or two writing. But... I don't think DH would appreciate that very much. And I also have a weird neurological disease that is unpredictable and chronic, so... I am looking at teaching at the local community college and will see how that goes.

I'm 64 in a few weeks and I still haven't figured out what I want to do when I grow up!

I wanted to be a teacher when I was in HS. That just makes me think that if I get this degree NOW, I'm going to be kicking myself for not doing it sooner, since I'd be close to retirement by now. LOL
