It's just about time for our elf, Cookie, to make his appearance. I think Elf on the Shelf is such a fun tradition! Who else does it? I love all the creative ideas out there, such as a welcome breakfast and Elf mischief!

If you haven't check out TLP's pinterest boards - you can find them HERE. Brynn has created an entire board devoted to Elf on a Shelf too.

Show us your best ideas - we'll repin!

Ahhh, yes. We started the tradition last year. B decided to name him Prince. *giggle* I'm looking forward to his re-appearance this year. :)

Oh we've done something Elf on a Shelf ish for two years now and I looooove the traditions we've created with it!! We do Elf Magic, and our elf is named Rachel. We have so much fun with it..lots of sweetness that weaves all kinds of traditions together and adds a spot of mischief in there!

I'm so glad there's a whole board for it on TLP's Pinterest!!

I've pinned a couple things so far and can't wait to get planning for this year! One of the things we do is write a letter to Santa to see if Rachel can come visit us for the holiday season. So that will be soon.

Rachel has silly stringed (is that a word?) and toilet-papered the house, took a ride on our ceiling fan, baked cookies, had a movie night (and left her movie for Bugga to keep and watch with some popcorn), wrote messages on Bugga's bathroom mirror, took a joyride on Bugga's tricycle, took a bath in some marshmallows in the sink, brought some little presents, made reindeer candy canes, fished for goldfish, made little "snow angels" in the flour from the cupboard....oodles more but it's been really fun! And Bugga looks forward to it SO much. It's truly "magic" every morning. :beat

Can't wait to brainstorm some more!

We've never done Elf on the Shelf, but I'm thinking this will be the year! Looks like a fun, new tradition to begin! :happyclap

We started last year too, but our elf (Fritz) wasn't super creative... I'm off to check out those boards, maybe I can give him some hints ;) Such a fun tradition! My kids are already anticipating his arrival this year.

This. But there are no kids here so I'm not sure if I should just do it anyway. :giggle I think it would be fun to do for my husband!
I love this pin (saw it on Brynn's board; unfortunately the link is down now, but I found it adorable!). :beat

We started Elf on a Shelf last year...his name is Oliver, or Ollie for short. He comes to our house each night through a magic elf door that appears during the Christmas season. (It's a little fairy door.) :) I love the ideas on Pinterest...I'm really looking forward to expanding on it this year! :)

We do this! Our Elf is named Toby and he likes to hide every night in some silly place and in the morning the kiddos have to find him. It's easier for me to keep up with that than all kinds of mischievous things, though that would be more fun probably HA! They do love having to figure out where he's gone and a few times they spent a few hours looking for him which is quite nice for me! ;)

We have an elf, Eddy...I think this is his 3rd of 4th year with us know (we got it when the whole craze had just started) he comes the day after Thanksgiving and leaves Christmas Eve night. We do many of the things Sara mentioned, but since I have boys...their favorite pranks is when Eddy hangs everyones underwear from the potrack and leaves behind elf poop (chocolate chips) in the toilet. If you have young boys and want to see them crack up, do that...sigh. Our elf is very naughty.

Target is now carrying the Elf on the Shelf online and in stores. We have had ours named Jingle for a couple of years and Kenzie loves him...need to go check out some more ideas. Our Jingle is a little lazy usually. Some nights he even forgets to move...lol

We don't, but I plan on starting next year! I'm loving all the adorable ideas floating around pinterest too.

Hahaha- Elf poop! I love it! I am just starting this tradition this year, as my oldest is just 3.5, and I think she'll get it now, and have a lot of fun with it. I LOVE all the ideas everyone has! Now I'm even more excited to bring home an elf this year.

i have a fear of failure with this. i'm SUCH a forgetful (aka too busy and scatterbrained) person, that i would forget to do something with the elf just one too many times and i would drop the ball. so i think for me it's better not to start something i can't finish.

is that bad?
i feel like a slacker.

What is this elf on a shelf thing? I keep hearing about it but I don't get it? What do you do with him? I'd like an elf named Buddy to keep the Christmas spirit alive in my house (no kids, just dogs and a husband).
