How many of you are doing Elf on the Shelf this Christmas season? What kind of zany stuff do you have planned for the little guy?

We are ... my son loves it. We started a couple days after Thanksgiving. Every night Miller asks, "what do you think Elf Michael will do tomorrow?" This morning he showed up in Miller's make-shift toy ambulance with bandages on his leg and arm and being comforted by the little Fur Real puppy and kitty. (Miller loves playing doctor lately and uses the puppy and kitty as comfort measures for his patients). We think Elf Michael got hurt flying through the storm to get to the North pole.

My favorite is to do stuff like that - put him in with toys and stuff and come up with some story of what he must have been doing in the night.

We are...I so need to get on the ball and figure out what we are doing with him this year!!!

I got one too - not that I have kids to hid it for - but I just think they are cute.

Not this year, but I think I'll be collecting ideas and maybe do it next year. Not sure if I can find an elf in Australia though.

This will be our first year. We are doing it differently though. We are not reading the story and telling our kids it's magical and flies to the north pole each night....I really don't think they would believe it anyway. But I loved the part that I keep seeing with the elf doing all kinds of funny things and my kids will get a big kick out of it. I am also going to throw in some times where the elf suggests certain things or activities to do to reach out to others and we are also going to incorporate bits of the Christmas story. Ours will be bringing parts of scripture at times until we have the whole Christmas story that we can read together on Christmas. I want them to have both fun and excitement but also brought back to what Christmas is truly all about.

I like seeing everyone's elf on a self but its not something I could be bothered doing ... its too hot here to get all creative at Christmas ... we just lounge around being lazy :)

No. The Elf normally used just looks a little creepy to me.

Yes. Ish. We've done Elf Magic vs. Elf on a Shelf for four years now. Our elf is more "plush" I guess you could say? And it's not so much the elf is watching you and reporting back to Santa kind of thing. It's much more a having fun and reinforcing all the things we love most about the season.

Bugga loves it so much and she is so looking forward to Rachel visiting again.

yes. introducing it this year because it is the first year my kids will not be spending Christmas in the States, nor with their auntie or grandparents and I wanted to find something american-like to help ease the change. Okay. in all honesty, it's me how needs help. the kids don't seem to care as long as they have sweeties and presents. :P

This is our third year and my kids love it. I don't do anything clever though, it's all I can do to move him somewhere new each day!

This is the first year I am doing it. My kids are almost 19, 15 and almost 10 year old twins. I am not really sure who I am doing it more for, them or me. I think it is just fun to move him around and come up with fun ideas and "situations". A lot of the twins friends do it so they know the story and so I figured, why not. I will add some activities for them to do every so often but it is more of a fun thing since they are older. Yesterday was his first visit and he must have been cold cause he got into the hot chocolate and marshmallows and made a mess. Today he seems to have a sweet tooth cause he is in the treat bag full of candy that my kids got last night at a party!

I do not like Elves. Period. So- we are doing Naughty Ninja's ( Ninja Turtles) and everyday one of the crew ends up in trouble. Like an elf but a turtle LOL

We're doing it again this year. I try to make it a mix of fun antics and suggestions for family activities or things that speak to the heart of the Season. We've really enjoyed our elf in years past and since our clock is ticking on the Santa magic, I want to make it extra fun this year.
