Pad Patter: 11/19 - Hair Color

How often/much do you spray? Maybe this is what I should be doing. Mine is so much lighter in the summer, that when it darkens in fall I get all annoyed, and that's when I color it. Maybe if I could keep it a bit lighter I'd be less ticked off. :giggle

when i first started doing it, i would spray every day (or almost) - it went through a slight strawberry blond phase before getting to the blond i liked. now i do it less than once a week ... maybe once every two or three weeks? and just at the roots ...

Sounds scary. lol The way my last coloring went here, I'd probably end up with a giant white patch.

I see the hairdresser every four weeks. I'm about 80 to 90 % gray she says so unless I want the skunk stripe at my hairline I HAVE to go. My hair is a really, really dark brown naturally and I color it the same now. My ex convinced me to go red about 14 years ago and that was an absolute disaster. My friends nickname for me is Snow White with pale skin and dark hair so that red just fought with everything, makeup, clothes, just everything. Your skin tone really matters with hair color.

The kicker is that my son (18) already has about 50 gray hairs. My 21 yr old daughter has a handful of them too. They say "Thanks, Mom!"

My boys started going gray at like 14 or 15. My youngest is 21 and he's the only one we can't find any gray on. Either he has none, or his blondish hair color is helping him hide them!! Both my husband and me have premature gray in our families! I only had a handful by the time I was 30 though...so not nearly as young as my boys.

Naturally my hair is chestnut brown with strawberry blond highlights in the sun. I don't color it now.

I once dyed my hair black in high school. It was not a good look for me.

Then in my early twenties I started highlighting my hair. But it was a lot of upkeep, and at one point my colorist said I should put back a base shade, and then highlight (because my natural color was getting lost in all of the highlights). That's when I stopped. I figured that I should save the time and money, and I'd have plenty of time to color my hair once I started going gray. Might be sooner than I thought. I found my first suspiciously too-blond hair this week.

I'm actually surprised because my mom was gray by 32, and so far I haven't got any, and I'm 32 now. I dye my hair, but I'm not particular. I usually go really dark brown in the fall/winter and then a lighter brown with highlights in the spring summer. I am getting bored though - I keep thinking I want to do red or purplish low lights or whatever you call it when you dye some of the underneath hair LOL. I'd probably look like a hot mess though. I just buy whatever hair color looks good at the moment - I mean to keep track, but I always forget! I did the salon thing once and decided no way never again. WAY too expensive and my highlights sucked. I do much better myself usually.

I dyed my hair black in High School it was a bit of an emo phase I went though before emo became cool lol but it really was a bad look for me - I looked like a vampire lol - now I am mostly natural but every now and again I put in a reddy brown semi-perm colour just for kicks
