Today would have been my Grandmother's birthday and I still miss her every day, even after all these years.

What's your fondest memory of someone from your childhood (even if they are still around!).

This time of year I always think about my Grandma's cooking and baking. Her pumpkin pies were so creamy and delicious (luckily she left the recipe hand written in the cover of one of her old cookbooks!) and she made an awesome coffee cake. That one I almost thought she took with her, but it turns out she'd shared it with ONE niece, who thankfully held onto it AND had the presence of mind to send it to me although she figured I already had it!

She will definitely be with me this holiday as I bake! :heartslub

Such a sweet memory Angie! Since you shared about your grandma, it made me think of mine. All my grandparents passed away before I was born except my Mom's mother. She developed Alzheimer's when I was 9, and passed when I was 13, but I have some fond memories of her from my early childhood. She lived just a few blocks away, and sometimes I would ride my bike to her house just to visit. She always gave us 2 vanilla wafers when we came over. When I was four, I came down with chicken pox the same week my little sister was born, so I got to go and live with grandma for a week so baby wouldn't be exposed. I remember eating sugar cereal (a rare treat), coloring a lot, and her making me take a nap (I was annoyed!). But overall I just remember how having that one on one time with Grandma made me feel so special. *sniff sniff* I should scrapbook about her.

Aw, you totally make me miss my grandma, too!

When Luke was born, I would do "Wednesday lunch" with her on maternity leave. Once I went back to work, we changed it to Wednesday night dinners. We did those for about seven years. Then, when she started getting sick, I would bring her dinner on Wednesday nights instead of taking her out. Then, just milkshakes because she had no appetite. (She normally wouldn't eat for ANYONE, but I got her to take a milkshake.) Then, we would just eat before we went for a visit. She died almost two years ago and I miss her each and every day. I'm so very grateful that Luke was able to grow up knowing his great grandma.
