Do you buy them when you travel?

I'm probably a terrible mother, but I rarely do. The only one of my kids who would appreciate it is Sean, and I can't just buy for him and no one else. Besides, are we really gonna want all that quirky stuff in a month? :giggle

Rather than buy souvenirs, I try to think of upcoming birthdays or Christmas. Great stocking stuffers.

Well, I've never done big souvenirs for my kids when I've been away from them. I usually just buy them some junk food and they are happy. When I go to my scrappy retreats there is always tons of candy, so I just take them each a little piece or two home.

I don't really travel much and I'm not big on souvenirs. When we went to Disney, the boys were with us and we let them each pick out a few things that they loved. When we went to Cuba we got them each something but nothing big. I don't really care for souvenirs myself. But I do love coffee mugs. I'm always on the lookout for mugs when I do travel.

We buy some. My son always gets a magnet from the places we visit and we usually buy a Christmas ornament for our tree if we find one we like. My daughter is the issue.... she's a HUGE shopper and loves every t-shirt and stuffed animal she sees in gift shops. I was a little worried about that with our big road trip this summer. So we did travel journals/smash books. It was a great diversion for her and her shopping... she got to buy something at every stop but generally it was a postcard which cost less than a dollar. We also bought the occasional sticker. What she mainly got caught up in was finding freebies to add to our books which we worked on each night at the hotels. She was honestly so distracted by finding paper bits for our books, that she didn't ask for anything bigger the whole trip! In the end, I think we ended up with the best souvenir of all... a memory book of our trip! Here's a blog post I did about it... travel journal.

I usually try to get something....a t-shirt, stuffed animal....something small for them, especially if it is someplace new.

Kissed that frog! Booo, missed him!

I don't like to buy them either :x I feel like stuff is usually overpriced and probably gets thrown out anyway.

I buy things I know people like.. like my grandmother collects magnets..
or I collect Blue willow pottery..

I always get at least a little something for myself. Like our last trip to Disney I bought a set of magnets that I use daily in my classroom. We also get a Christmas tree ornament or two from places we've visited. :)
