Today Elvis Presley was born, albeit 1935!

I admit to being a bit over the top for his music and cheesy films...
do you have a movie or music idol from long ago??

Movie or music, I can't think of one. I do like some old movies and music, but no one stands out as an idol. Books, though... I'm a Sinclair Lewis fan! Does that count?

I know, I was shocked to hear that today would have been his 80th birthday, boy that makes me feel old! I still love my Elvis!

I gained my love for Elvis especially through my mom. So when she flew over to visit me one year, we drove all the way to Memphis (from Florida) to visit Graceland and his birthplace Tupelo MS. Those are fantastic memories and I am grateful we were able to go see it together :)

I don't know if I have a particular idol. My dad was a big Elvis fan, so I did hear plenty of his music growing up. :) I was in Memphis working a project right around Elvis's birthday one year. They were pulling me off the project to go to a different site and we ended up having to transfer my hotel room and my rental car to the guy who came in to take over for me because absolutely everything was completely booked up! It was wild, the only time anything like that ever came up in the four years I traveled for that job.

Gene Kelly...he was the man. So smooth, so talented...never be another like him.

I like his more popular tunes. I don't think I have actually watched a full Elvis starring movie. I wonder what he would have looked/been like.

Harrison Ford - but it all really started with American Graffiti.. Am I old or what?!

I love the songs by Niel Diamond from the film Jazz Singer! My Nan loved this film and that passed down to my mum and then me! He was born before my time and I don't really hear of him much now, but if a song from the film happens to come on the radio I get a big goofy smile! And I sing along of course! xx

like some Elvis, LOVE Frank Sinatra-

Movies with Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire-

my most favorite musicals of all time is Hair (not sure it qualifies?, it was 40 years ago or so...)
and the Sound of Music ....
oh I could go on...

I was never a big fan of Elvis. I remember my neighbor girl crying her eyes out when Elvis went into the army and I thought she was crazy (I was in 5th grade) to be so upset about such a "dumb" thing.

Happy Belated Birthday to my husband's distant cousin!! Yep 5th cousins once removed or some such nonsense. My FIL knows more... but there are Presley's in the family tree (and lots of them).

I love Neil Diamond also!! He just had a new album out right around Thanksgiving time. :) He's still got it!
