Ok girls I need some ideas for 2013! Our girl just turned 2 last week...And I need ideas for her 3rd year album. For her 1st year album I simply made scrapbook pages with fun events, like; first foods, trips we made, things she loved, how she grew & lots more... For her 2nd year I made an project 365 album. Started the day after her 1st bday till her 2nd bday (dec 19th)...although I am making a little add-on till the end of the year, cause I want a whole new idea for 2013...

Soooo what is your plan for 2013 and why have you choosen that project? I would love a new idea for her 3rd year album. I do love the PL way too, so that was my first option...but maybe you brilliant ladies have other projects they're starting on?

I am scaling it WAY back for 2013. The "scrapping" part of P365 just got to be too much for me (I did it in 2010 and 2012).

So, I'm still going to do a picture a day, although I don't feel bad if I miss a day and fill in it with an extra from another day. I figure it won't matter in 6 years if that picture was taken June 11 or June 14. And I'm going to slap them into a pre-made template, which will be the same the whole year. I'll just change the dates and add captions for the pictures.

I will still be scrapping "regular" pages all year, so I think P365 almost felt like too much, or like I was doubling up. I think this is better for me. The kids still get the picture a day for a year, and I still get to be artsy with my regular pages.

Here's the page I'm using (these are just random pics I stuck in as examples obviously):

I'm sure I'll get sick of this by week 5, but since it's 2 minutes to plug everything in, I'll get over it. LOL

And no, my pages won't have anything to do with eggs. Well, maybe at Easter.

hehe LOL on the eggs Angie... love that idea, but I def need more variaty in pages...hehe

angie, i was thinking very much along those lines... i think for 2013 i'm going to focus on 2 separate projects:

1 - keep up on scrapping through the year... simplify my scrapping, use some more p/l style photo pages with less scrappy detail & more focus on the story so i can get it told and be done with it... mix that in with some regular scrap pages because i need to do my own scrap style or i won't feel satisfied.

2 - for my daily project, though, i would like to do something very similar to what you are describing. i too was thinking about the premade template... i'm thinking i'll use emily's template she sold in 2012... then i'm thinking i'll do a book of 365 details of daily life... so it could be the messy toys on the floor, the piles of laundry, the food we eat, and so on. that way i can just focus on one detail of each day that stands out to me. i think it will be fun from a photography standpoint, and it will simplify my p/l approach drastically! i'm looking forward to it!!

here's em's template i was talking about:

or else i might use allison's polaroid frames because i LOVE them!!

Oh Rebecca those all look amazing...well I still have a few days to think about this, BUT I am sure of not doing a photo a day... Isn't project life more about weekly pages and not about exact days? I mean just highlight the week's stuff...please correct me if I'm wrong, but are there are rules? LOL

I always make it too hard for myself and then I drop out by week 3! I really like the idea of recording my year but just can't handle the pressure of a photo a day so I might try a page a week (with no limit on the photos I take in the week) and cut myself some slack :)

Well, I've given up on scrapbooking entirely, but I'm here because I plan to use a lot of Lilypad stuff in my Project Life album. I do a Photo a Day because I have the Project 365 app on my phone and I like that it reminds me to take a photo every day, but I don't always put those photos in my album. I consider my Project Life album to be the stories of our lives. I use only the photos that tell those stories. Sometimes I'll have a whole spread of our trip to the zoo or my son's graduation. And some times my spread is 8-10 individual little stories that I tell by writing on the photo or doing a photo/journal card side by side. There are no rules to Project Life. It can be whatever you want it to be. That's what works for me.

I edit photos, crop and journal using PSE and then print using Persnickety Prints (because they'll print exact sizes and even round corners). It probably costs me a bit more to do it that way but my purchases of supplies has gone way down, so I'm not too worried about it.

If I didn't hold myself to "every day", I'd end up taking one picture a month. LOL

I am also giving myself permission for my P365 to be my thing. I do SO MANY pages of the kids with my regular scrapping, I shouldn't feel guilty if this project is just about what's going on in MY life. I keep feeling bad that I don't have enough of this kid or that kid or whatever. Pfft, enough of that. They have the regular albums. I'm going to record a year of whatever I've got going on. Sometimes it will be stuff with the kids, and sometimes it'll be what I had for lunch. I think someday someone might even enjoy looking back on that. I'd love a book that was just a year in my grandmother's life, ya know?

photo a day for me. and im going to scrap it. but keep it so simple. limit journaling to what i caption the photo. i really want wes to do it too. so we can have each of our pages side by side. and get a good glimpse into our lives. :D now to convince him!

I've been doing project 365 since 2009. 2009, 2010 and 2011 I did different pages for each week. 2012 I went the project life way using a template each week and adding journaling cards. I haven't thought much of 2013 yet but may use what Rebecca posted above. Looks very easy and I could always journal in the white space under the photos. I continue to do various pages throughout the year for each of my kids books.

Plus also I plan on doing 13 in 13 (where you take 13 photos on January 13 and scrap them).
I also plan to do back in time project where you scrap photos from 2012 that you missed.

I love that idea Rebecca - I'm doing PL for the first time in 2013, thanks to my wonderful family buying me the bits for Christmas and my birthday. But having seen Brandi's Photo a Day list I might try that too ;-)

I'm doing PL. I already started in October, because I decided to do it back then and simply thought: Why not start straight away?
I am not doing daily photos, though it did make me bring the camera more often again (just as I hoped it would). If I have very little photos and/or stories to tell I switch to one page a week instead of double pages. I'm also happy to incorporate scans, images from the web and lots of journaling and fillers.

I like the concept so far, because it lets me adapt the effort I put in every week. Some weeks I have time and energy to be creative. Others I am glad I can just add some pre-done fillers and journal cards and be done quickly. When I have more to say, I insert an extra spread between the weekly pages. It's been a long time since I've scrapped that much even though the last two months were beyond stressful at work. I needed an "anything goes" approach and that's why I went with PL.

Then again, we are a young, childless couple. I am not that keen on documenting everything and every day. I can see how with a small kid this might be different. For me the book just needs to capture what this time has been like. How we live, what big events were on ect. I want this to be documented, before we get married beginning of 2014 and may start a family soon after. I did P365 in 2010 when I was living alone, long distance relationship, still doing my PhD at the university... Looking back I am already so thankful I captured a glimpse of that time period. But I don't go back wondering: But WHAT did I do on the second Tuesday that month??? Many of our days are rountine, so I'm not afraid on missing out on a ton of things, like kids' "firsts". Hence, my approach for this Project is a bit more general orientated you could say.

Petra...there are no rules!! That's the beauty of it. It is what you want it to be, and if you want to change it half way in, than you can do that too. One week you may have one photo, and the next it might be two pages full of photos. Have fun!

I am thinking of doing one 2-page layout per month and using the photo pocket pages from Valorie. I love how everyone's pages come out using them. I know that I would just get behind with a photo a day. Ginger - I think my approach will be similar to yours since I don't have chikdren either. I did complete an iPhone photo a day using the project365 app. Did anyone else use this? Only trouble is I have to email to get a PDF of the year and it's inconsistent when you hear back. I did finally get a PDF but it only printed one line of text and not the rest that I included. Hmmm. So I'm a bit dissappointed that I followed through but am having a hard time getting the photos and daily notes from my phone. This is part of the reason I'd like to give the PL a whirl. Well a modified PL. :) I think I'll still mainly use iPhone pics. Just picked up the 5 last night. Yippee!!
