Overthinking layout titles... am I the only one?

So, I just finished up a layout of my now sixteen year old son using photos from when he was 10. They were of his first time riding the wave runner on his own. I came up with a title and used it on the layout... but when I was getting ready to post it, something kept nagging at me. So I googled the title I used and found that it's also a song title and has a definition in the Urban Dictionary. Thankfully, none of the definitions are that bad, but now I'm overthinking whether or not that should be my layout title. Actually, I'm keeping it, I'm just overthinking whether or not I should post it publicly.

I'm just up enough on current music and slang to catch some of these things and I always wonder if what I come up with references something not appropriate :oops:

Am I the only one?
 
Hmmm....maybe a smidge? :giggle I take awhile to get titles I like, but I don't check them on UD or other websites. I think looking at the subject of my pages and layout will tell how my title is supposed to be used/referenced. When I usually use Google, I'm looking for words that work together or I will search "beach scrapbooking titles," and get some that I usually mix. My titles are on the simple side, and many times now, JC's.

I don't always title! Yes, I admit. A title is the last part of my page, and doesn't always make it.

I'm not too picky about double meanings though. I would have no problems with a layout called "Netflix and Chill" even though kids stole it for a less innocent meaning. Meanings change over the years. I was reading a Curious George book with my son that talked about the kids being gay at the park. There's no guarantee that a word with keep the same meaning forever and ever.
 
You're right @bestcee, meanings will change. I think I'm more sensitive to it right now due to having teens, they know ALL the meanings (or at least think they do).

And I don't always title either, but this particular layout had a big blank spot that was begging for something to fill it. And I chose that particular combination of words mainly due to how well they fit in the space. Oh well! I'll keep it and like I said, it's really not a bad meaning.

I used to check the urban dictionary and just about everything could be misconstrued if you follow them. Yet, if the layout is posted out on the internet, caution is probably a good idea. Lately, I have been leaving off titles too on some pages. Why not?
 
I am a lame titler. I tend to just use a piece of Word Art for my titles 90% of the time. It's lazy but works for me. I've never even thought to cross check a title with Urban Dictionary or whatever.
But now I'm curious what your title is!!!! :thinking2
 
I admit I LOLd at the thought of a LO called "Netflix and Chill." Not saying I wouldn't use it, although we don't get Netflix so I probably wouldn't have a reason to. But I laughed.

I can totally see that happening but I don't care. Once my page is done, it's done.
 
@bestcee, I don't always title either. At least not on the page itself. I try to come up with something better than lilypadchallenge123 for posting, but I try to keep it simple and innocuous...
 
Sorry! Busy weekend.

The title is Riding Solo. It's a layout about my son taking the wave runner out for the first time by himself. The urban dictionary definition isn't bad.... wait! I just looked it up again and it's coming up with something way worse today! Ick! Definitions 2 and 3 are basically about being single or, in definition 3, playing single player mode when gaming. But #1... definitely not what I want associated with a photo of my 10 year old son. This is why I hate coming up with titles and LOVE PL... can't go wrong with "week 24", right?
 
OK, I can totally see why you might look that title/meaning up! lol. I'm with Jenn, though ... not gonna go there (the looking up part!) ... I think in your context though it is fine.
 
Oh I didn't even think about any of this. I just make titles up...usually my title comes first and then the page, but sometimes not!

I always like catchy titles, so I could see me coming up with something crazy just because!
 
Sometimes my titles come so easily, and other times I can't think of a thing. I never look up anything to see it's meaning, either. But lately I'm doing the "duh" titling system: "Space Mountain" for a Space Mountain layout, "Hiking the Trails" for a hiking page, etc. I loved Chelle's word art. I used it so many times!
 
Look up title meanings? Good grief! Never!!! I think of a title that goes with my layout and the layout shows the meaning of the title. Period! If someone wants to read something else into it, that's their problem, not mine!!! Now I WILL admit, I snitch a lot of titles. I go on sb sites like DST and go WWAAYYYY back years and look for good titles that will work. I also use word art. When I find good titles that I really like, I put them in a folder named-----yep "TITLES"! Would you believe that there are times I actually do a layout around a title??? I will find a title I just love and will do a layout just to use that title!!
 
That is such a perfect title, though! I don't think the meaning will be misconstrued. However, if you're worried (and I get the worry!), why not just make it "Solo ride"? Or "first solo ride"? Or even just "Solo." Same sentiment, different wording. But that would mean going into your program and changing the lo... which I hate doing. Heck, I hate having to save for Web and I have the free action from @gonewiththewind to do the work for me lol. I've changed a few things on pages but not usually the title. And, like others have said, I don't always title my pages.

...Or you could find the lyrics to the song of the same title and include them as "Journaling" on your page... :lol
