Outfit for interviewing?

So, about 1.5 weeks ago I had a first interview. I wore a black suit (boring I know but appropriate for the job). The problem is that I have a 2nd interview on Friday & I don't have another suit that fits (unless I magically drop about 15lbs before Friday). Can I get some opinions on wearing the same suit but with a different shirt? Think it would change it up enough for people not to notice?

I interviewed with 4 people last time. This time there will be 4 people again...2 the same as last & 2 new people.

If I buy a new suit for the interview & get the job I can wear it to work. If I buy a new suit & don't get the job then I won't wear it to my current job so it will just hang in the closet.

What do you guys think? New suit or just wear a different shirt?

I would say don't wear the same suit, different shirt just because I would notice it if I'm interviewer but I'm weird about that. Is there any way you could maybe wear some nice business separates without doing a suit? That's what I did when I did my interviews. I had an interview the first time and I wore a nice skirt and top. And then I came back for another interview (same agency, different job) and I wore a pair of slacks, a top, and jacket that closely matched the pants. I feel ya about no suits fitting, I am in the same boat, I have 3 beautiful suits in my closet, no where near fitting.

Thanks Liz! I agree, I just don't want to spend more money. I will head over to Macy's today...maybe there will be some leftover 4th of July sale or something.

Sorry, Alli, I totally missed this until right now, but I agree - go for the new shirt. Good luck at the 2nd interview too! :)

Could you just wear the suit slacks with a button down, tucked and belted?

Not for this job...normally, yes but this is for a job where I would be wearing suits most of the time anyway so I really need to wear one for the interview. The people on the panel for the 1st interview were all wearing suits so I can only assume they will be again. It will help my confidence if I am dressed as professionally as they are for the interview. I won't mind having a new suit if I get the job! :) So, here is hoping I get it. lol

totally agree with this. you should always dress at the same level or one level above the interviewers IMHO. it's better to be overdressed than under. under says, 'i really didn't care enough to go the extra effort.' not a good signal to be giving off.

good luck on the interview, no matter what you decide on!!
