Outdoor concert venue in 105 temps?!

I'm super super nervous... tonight is our Evanescence concert... we are seeing like 5 or 6 bands total... I discovered recently the venue (Gexa Energy Pavilion) is an outdoor venue. We have reserved seating so we'll be in a covered area. Recent reviews talk about them adding AC to the bathrooms but I'm not sure if that's done or not, I'd guess not. Someone posted a review that the bathrooms were HOT.

I am REALLY sensitive to the heat... they don't let you bring water or coolers or anything like that. I spent like 150 on the tickets, so I don't want to miss it, and I really want to see Evanescence but it is supposed to be 105!!!

Any ideas? Has anyone been to a concert in a situation like this? I mean, how do people not just have heat strokes and die out there, never mind the bands under hot lighting. Or maybe I'm worried for nothing?

Sounds silly but consider a bandana. You can put it in cool water, lay it on your neck, and it does make you feel better if you get overheated.

Dress cool and have fun tonight!

I agree. It's really amazing what something cool wrapped around your neck will do. Even if you don't have one, you can cut up an older t-shirt to pour cool water on and drape around your neck.

I hope you have a good time despite the heat!

I know they won't let us take "food" in there... but I might could hide a frozen banana in my *ahem, bosom... lol...
but that gave me a great idea... I saw some "instant cold packs" at Walgreens the other day... for emergencies... maybe I can take some of those in. I do plan to take a tank top in so I could use that to pour water on... another great idea.

I keep thinking SURELY they will have a cooling station or something inside... we discussed it and we want to be there at least by the 2nd band, but the first band is only on 35 minutes... so we might as well be early.

I also was trying to talk Scott into getting an inexpensive digital camera with hd video (found some at Best Buy for 119) and taking it since I can't take my good camera in, lol!!

kat, i've been working all summer at an outdoor concert venue near indy... usually they set up misters and have water booths here when the heat is extreme. hopefully your venue will do something similar. i say take a chunk of cash with you to buy bottles of water. i know our bottles of water cost nearly $5, so be prepared for something rediculous like that. but it's better than crashing from the heat.

also, before hand, make sure you eat protein and take vitamin B if you have any. eat something with salt or electrolites in it before you go, and drink a decent amount of water to go with the salt / electrolites. this will help some.

have fun!!!! the concert sounds great!

I hope you aren't melting right now and were able to stay cool. We've been to Jimmy Buffett several years when it's been crazy hot like that and we just drink lots of water and visit the misters frequently! :)

oooh the last outdoor concert i went to there was no seating and it rained non stop, then i had to sit in the car for an hour dripping wet and cold waiting to get off the carpark
