OTD in History! M*A*S*H | 2.28.2018

we didn't get series at the same time in Latin America, a lot later than we get them now, I remember films coming to us at least 6 months after they opened in USA theaters.... on TV, I remember watching sometimes, but was a time of my life in which I worked a lot and move around traveling quiet a lot too, so the TV we watch would be novelas, soap operas which in Brazil used to be amazing, educational....apart from the love affairs the villains and the good people....there is (even these days) something that people can learn from the TV Globo soaps...I know lots of people would disagree, but I know Sarita knows everything about the start of the rail roads in Brazil because of a mini series she watched when we spent quiet a long time in north east Brazil...she was 9...still today at 22 can tell you the story!!!!
We do know the thing about a TV show having people rushing from work to home to watch, and entire shops closed early because they know not many people would be out...I remember a soap called Vale Tudo (Everything Goes or some like that) there was one of the last episodes, and we were going to discover who killed this woman, the queen of some corporation that was an evil woman.... and that episode would be the one which revealed, after almost 8 months...the killer.... I think the whole Brazil, even those who say they are not into novelas, was tuned in!!!!!!

of USA TV series, I remember loving Sally Field as the flying nun, I Love Gennie, Bewitched (OH LOOOOVE it still!!!!) The Man from Uncle was one of our favorites, and Batman with Adam West I dreamed I could be Cat Woman, Julie Newmar was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Since I was 3, no. *ducks*

and I am feeling even older right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yoda:hissy:giggle

I do remember both MASH and MW. We "HAVE" to watch every military related show, lol! It became a weekly and then daily thing, lol.
SO, those of you who remember Montgomery Wards, do you remember Woolworth's???

I remember Woolworths here in the UK because we still had the stores a few years ago, I think they went bankrupt in 2005.... but oh I LOVED going there for Sarita's school clothes, the sweets pick & mix and every thing for the kitchen ...oh I miss them!!!!

I remember sneaking out of bed to try to watch it on the dodgy portable TV I had in my bedroom. My mom was pretty strict about bedtimes and limited my TV time as well so watching it with her in the living room wasn't an option.

I have very fond memories of watching Mash on TV with my Dad ( he fought in World War 2 in Papua New Guinea).
It is still being shown on Foxtel here in Australia and I sometimes watch it.
The ending was so sad and happy. I was not expecting how the story line ended for Charles Winchester... it made me kind of angry for the story writers to have such sadness in the story. And of course not expecting the story line for Hawkeye ( Alan Aldas character ).
