Hey everyone!!! I am currently at sea and have no idea what day it is! I actually thought it was Monday. We have some internet today that works, and noticed that the Oscar nominations happened. Every year I try to watch the nominated movies (still have Belfast to view) especially since streaming has made them very available outside the theaters. Here is this years list of nominations.

Best Picture
All Quiet on the Western Front - Netflix
Avatar: The Way of Water
The Banshees of Inisherin - Disney Plus
Elvis - HboMax
Everything Everywhere All at Once - Paramount + (showtime)
The Fabelmans
TÁR
Top Gun: Maverick - Paramount+
Triangle of Sadness
Women Talking

The only one we have watched so far is All Quiet on the Western Front. We watched it several months ago because I read that it is supposed to be one of the best war movies ever filmed. A lot of it is in German so it is subtitled at the beginning of it. If you don’t know anything about the film (which is a book) it’s a World War I movie and follows the story of a German soldier. It is well done.

We actually bought Top Gun Maverick because hubby liked the first one. I feel that TG is overrated and don’t remember the first one that much so we were supposed to have a marathon but haven’t yet done so. I just haven’t been in the mood to view them.

Elvis is downloaded to watch on the plane ride home.

Never saw the first Avatar either.

I didn’t know a lot about the other nominees but will probably watch Everything when I get home since we have Paramount +.

Have you seen any of these? Looks like there are more main stream movies in this years list. Next to the movie I listed where they are streaming.

I've seen Avatar, Top Gun, Elvis. I loved them all. I want to see Everything Everywhere All At Once and The Fablemans. I don't usually know the movies nominated, lol, cause they usually aren't my type of movie. And I don't really like all the hoopla surrounding the awards, guilds, etc. I'm kinda over celebrities and think it's all a bit overrated as I get older, lol!

ETA: I googled Women Talking. That sounds intriguing, especially based on true events. I didn't know it otherwise.

I've seen Top Gun Maverick. It was fun, but I don't know that it's Oscar worthy. No desire to see a bunch of those. Nick liked Elvis, he took his mom who loved it. Avatar - not interested. Same with Fabelmans. Never heard of the last two?

Out of these I have seen Elvis, TopGun, and Everything Everywhere All At Once. TopGun we bought to watch it and have only watched it once. Elvis we saw on HBO I really liked it. everything All At Once my daughter wanted to watch so we wound up subscribing to Showtime to watch it. It’s good, it’s different, high energy adrenaline producing the whole time.

I don’t think I knew about All is Quiet on the Western Front. It sounds like something we’d like

I haven't seen any of them (not a big movie watcher) although I did buy TG with Amazon credits in September... still haven't watched it.

As for the Oscars, I haven't paid any attention to them for over 30 years.

I've seen Avatar, Banshees, Triangle of Sadness, Elvis and Everything, Everywhere. That's the most I've seen in a long time at the time the announcement is made, although I usually do try to see them all before the awards. I despised Avatar. Loved Everything, Everywhere. Really liked Elvis. Banshees had moments but overall was disappointing. And Triangle of Sadness is very interesting but quite bizarre.

I have a bit of a dilemma about Top Gun since I usually boycott Tom Cruise movies. :hummm

Saw Elvis, Top Gun Maverick and Everything Elsewhere... Elvis needs to win... and Austin Butler needs to win for Best Actor

Re Top Gun - Maverick was really good and I think even better than the first.

I hadn’t heard of women talking either. Unfortunately it wasn’t streaming anywhere but that may change. I know Belfast want either last year.

We watch a lot of war movies and it was good. It was very sad tho.

I really only like the Mission Impossible movies by him.

That’s go
Saw Elvis, Top Gun Maverick and Everything Elsewhere... Elvis needs to win... and Austin Butler needs to win for Best Actor

That’s good to know about TG. Maybe we will finally watch it when we get back.

I saw and liked Everything and Top Gun - although I don't think Top Gun is Oscar worthy. I've been dying to see Banshees ever since I visited the island of Inisheer a few months ago... I don't have HBO max so I'll probably rent it on Amazon. My husband saw Elvis and really liked it.

Hubby and I saw Top Gun. He was so excited about it and I was too since I had such a crush on Tom Cruise when the first movie came out, but it was ok...not great. I was really looking forward to Elvis. It was really good, although it just left me feeling so very sad about his life.

I did see the first Avatar and I did like it, so I'm looking forward to the 2nd one, but all the hype about it is kind of annoying. Hubby and I tried watching Banshees but thought it was boring and didn't finish it. I do want to see The Woman King & Women Talking, and of course, I can't wait to see Wakanda! Not too interested to see The Fablemans or TAR and I don't even know what the other movies are about. Usually, the Oscar winners aren't movies that I've enjoyed. Of all the winners from last year, Cruella was the only movie I liked and the rest of them, besides Encanto, I didn't have any interest in, either.

I think Top Gun is the only one on the list that I've watched. I am super annoyed by Tom Cruise, so I didn't want to watch it but my hubby REALLY wanted me to go to the theater with him, so I did and I actually really liked the movie. I'll have to add some the other ones to my to-watch list. I think my hubby would like the war movie. I've heard good things about the Everything Everywhere All At Once to which we have Paramount+ too. I love that more of these are available to watch from home already!
