Organize Your Pad - Favorite Tips for Beginers

Are you talking about tips just for getting organized? Hmmm.. I'd say the best tip is to unzip and organize things as you download them. Don't let them pile up or it can get unmanageable! Figure out early on how you want to store your files too.. on your HD vs. and External HD. Do you want to sort product by store or by designer, etc. It's a whole lot easier to get organize up front when you don't have a ton of supplies, but once you start hoarding... I mean building a stash it could take a lot longer to change how you're organizing your supplies.

I also keep an excel spreadsheet where I list the pages that I want to complete. I list them in chronological order, but I don't complete them in order. When a new kit comes out that I want to play with, I'll go into that list and pick what photos would work best and work on that page. I have a column to make the page as done too so I know when I have enough pages done to create a photo book and it's a whole lot easier to complete a photobook when I already know what order the pages should go in. :)

One final tip... I name my .psd files with the year first, then the month, then the day and then a short title. Then my .jpg which are saved from that same name are all listed in chrological order... so as as example: 2014-08-05 Beach Day

I organize by designer and then store. I switched to just designer but because I want to find my stuff quickly I went back to designer/store
for example I have a TLP folder and in it is a folder for each individual designer BUT I also have a folder for each of the following; MPM, M3 and BYOC. It works for me as if I'm doing my PL pages I just hit the MPM folder within my main TLP one.

I also have a folder titled Retired/Misc designers---that one I weed through every once in a while to get rid of stuff that I haven't used in forever or were from the beginning of my digi days.

I had an EHD failure and hadn't yet copied everything over to my backup system so lost ALOT of stuff (including every layout from 2103). Some of it I miss, some I don't and it gives me an excuse to build up again ;)

Thank u everyone, oh my mind not as sharp as when young. I have a mess. So many great tips, I sure appreciate it

Do you separate your kits, to have journal cards, masks, arrows etc together

If one kit has a whole lot of journal cards or masks or whatever, then I may put a folder for them inside of the kit folder. I do not ever take items out of a kit to put them with other similar items with other kits. If I really want an arrow, I do a search for "arrow" across my whole stash.
