Organization of Photos in Light Room?

@gonewiththewind Yay!!!! That worked. Thank you so much!!! Now I can go play with organizing the keywords. I even found the right-click option to do the nesting. Yay!!

This has been the "hardest" part of the Adobe programs for me -- that there are keyboard or right-click options that don't show up on any of the menus. It makes it hard to know they even exist unless you randomly click on things - or someone tells you.

@BevG I have found Adobe programs to be the most non-intuitive except for Lightroom. Start on the left, go to the top, and then work your way down is how I heard it described when I started.

Here are two shots of my keyword areas, unopened and then opened.

If the little arrow before the name is solid it means there are subcategories. If the arrow is grayed out, there are no subcategories. And if you wonder why I have 2 Color folders and 2 Events, well...it's because I ended up with duplicate issues when I transferred my stuff to the new computer. Since that happens only ever 5-7 years, I tend to make some mistake every transfer! It's just another job now to merge them....some day.

HTHs!

Yippee! Now you can go crazy nesting!

I agree that some things aren't intuitive and sometimes it's hard to even explain what to do . . . LOL . . . I'll be happy to help you any way that I can because at the end of the day, being able to find a photo of a loved one or an event you want to scrap at the click of a button instead of searching through folder after folder is priceless.

Hey Maureen . . . @cookingmylife . . . . here's a quick way to merge keywords. This is from The Lightroom Queen (noooo, that's not me, hee hee - you can Google "Lightroom Queen" and get loads of tips and tricks at her site):

You can also open the wrong keyword so the files are selected and assign the right one using the checkboxes. Check the square on the left and it should assign all the selected photos to the new keyword. Then delete the wrong one.
It's pretty easy and fast!

Thanks @gonewiththewind and @bestcee. This is what I do but I really wish the Lightroom Queen, who is wonderful, would be the Lightroom Fairy and do it for me in my sleep. LOL I really don't have too many duplicates any more but it definitely takes back seat to tagging new products. I wonder where all the new ones come from!?!??!?! :hummm Oh it's me!!
