This weekend is our first proper weekend in our new house and I decided in my infinite wisdom to tackle the small flower bed in our garden. When I say small... I mean, we have a big patio and a 2ft by 6ft flower bed!

It was noon, and an unusually scorching 28°C (82°F). I went out gardening with no sunscreen and when you're as blonde as me with a normal skin tone that I lovingly refer to as translucent... well, lets just say I'm now closer to looking like a lobster, and probably just as snappy too!

Got any good remedies to ease the pain of sunburn? :dizzy:dizzy

Ouch!! Vinegar helps. I usually get in the shower with coolish water and do vinegar and aloe afterwards. Hope you feel better soon, sunburns suck.

I use and Aloe Vera spray when I get burnt, it reduces the length of time it is red and the cool spray helps with the immediate pain. I try not to get burnt (or even go in the sun) but hey, its Australia so what am I going to do to escape the sun, live underground? :giggle

I have had a few burns in my day, and when my skin is burnt, I am aching and grumpy. I also cannot stand for my skin to be touched. I use a numbing spray called solarcaine.

When I can stand to touch my skin I use lots of aloe.

Aloe Vera is effective in soothing pain.... there is no way to "cure " as such, but if you don't have aloe or any over the counter cream/lotion...what we do in Brazil is grate carrots and rub them on the skin...the cold sooths the pain and , for some reason, the red goes away......

Make some tea and then after it is room temperature soak a towel on the tea and put it over the sunburn area leave it for a good 10 mins. Do not wash it out. btw. remember that tea stains, ok? Good luck, hun.

probably to late now, but sliced tomato's on the burn, seems to take some of the heat out of it. If the burn is also on your feet sit with them in tepid water, (or they will swell and blister)

you should try Cynthia's carrot trick too , (or you could just poor a salad over you :giggle !)

Hope you feel better today.

All of my usual tricks are already here in the thread but Aloe and Solarcaine are probably my most reached for remedies! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Feeling much better after a couple of good nights sleep and lots of aftersun lotion. My face is still a bit sore, but doing alright! :)

I've never heard of the carrot trick. Going to keep that one in mind.

Lots of good tips and a few I didn't know about. I just buy an after-sun lotion and keep the skin moist. I try really hard to not burn b/c with my fair skin I get crispy really easily.

I don't see my go to here yet. Milk of Magnesia! Like the laxative, you dab it on with cotton balls, it's amazing!! Takes the red right out and it doesn't hurt anymore.
