I have really bad sunburn yes I know it's my own fault,I went to the beach and forgot to pack my sun screen so we are all burnt and it hurts so much making it uncomfortable to sleep so I'll probably be really tired by dinner time and my knees really hurt so I don't know if that's related or just coincidence but I got to say I feel way older than my years :thumbsdowns

Lesson learned this week do not forget sun cream again!

oh NO Karen - I am so sorry! I have been there so many times :(

Aloe gel and/or Noxema cream are your friends! (the Noxema takes the sting out of it, as long as there aren't blisters)

Oh that sucks!!! It could be possible that your body reacts to the burn... Hope you feel better soon! And aloe gel rocks!!

I've once had a nasty sunburn, even with blisters and we did put on sun cream several times... We went on these inner tubes on the water... It was horrible!!!

In my college years, I had some pretty nasty sunburns--they are NOT fun. I have heard that tea bags can help take some of the sting out as well.

I've had my fair share of sunburns too, not fun! I have noticed that taking a warm/hot shower helps draw the heat out. Helps before bed so you don't wake up with your skin sticking to the sheets or in more pain than you were when you first got it. :groan To me, it feels that the sunburn gets worse in the middle of the night so I've noticed that helps. BUT it could just be me. ;) Oh, and we'll use Sooth-A-Caine by Banana Boat which works GREAT!

Google tea packages for sunburn. If you brew your tea and then let it get cold and apply it with a towel. Let it stand with a towel for sometime you will be back in no time. GOOGLE IT!

I can relate. Got burned so bad one summer in college that I had to wear long sleeved shirts and pants all summer (in 90+ heat) b/c of all the blisters and sores I had. It all healed but I had antibiotics and cream. I slept on an air mattress on the floor with tea soaked towels (don't know if it helped but it made sleeping easier) because I couldn't lie in a bed. The scariest part was the huge blister that covered half my face and was filled with fluid that sagged down. Luckily I recovered no marks except a few on my chest. I learned my lesson...don't drink beer all day and sleep on the beach.

Ouch!

And Rae, that sounds awful. I can't imagine having such a bad burn. Although I get heat exhaustion well before I get a sunburn, so I guess that is my defense mechanism!

Ouch! Hoping you are getting some relief! We have used the Solarcaine, Noxema (though it really dries out your skin after repeated use), Cooling Aloe Cream, and Tea Bags. Good Luck!

Blurgh, how painful...

I shudder to think when we were kids (under a very hot Australian sun) sunscreen was unheard of and the thought was to get burnt at the start of summer to toughen up your skin for the rest of the season.

Hope the burn goes away soon, aloe spray is the best (no need to touch the skin to rub it on)

I had a bad one on my back and the backs of my legs... blisters and all. Bad me, I was a young adult and did the "oh, I'll be fine" thing. I was not fine.

I hope you feel better soon. Noxema feels great, it's really cooling and soothing.

oh man that sounds awful Karen, and OMG Rae!!!!

I HATE sunburn! I actively hide from the sun because I get itchy welts if I am out in the direct sunlight for more than an hour. I think everyone has offered great advice though so I hope you are feeling better soon!

ohhh girl.... with the sun we have been having, I can imagine the pain :( grate some carrots from the fridge and rub it very lightly in your skin...the hurt tends to go away.... (I grew up on the beach and was a tour guide, always looking after the English who sunburn easy!!!!)
Huggzzzz

Sunburns are SCARY!!!! I avoid the sun these days because I'm such a pale girl. Hope you are feeling better!

Thanks ladies the burn has gone now to be replaced with yucky peeling skin and itching so think I learned my lesson
