Online back-up

I'm sure this has been discussed before and I've just not paid nearly enough attention. All my pics and layouts and 100% of my scrapping supplies have been happily stored away on my EHD . . . until it died this week. Thank goodness all my photos were backed up on my computer, but absolutely nothing else was so I literally have nothing left.

Instead of having multiple EHDs, I'd really like to use online back-up. I used Mozy for years until they upped their prices several years ago. Recommendations?

I tried mozy also and was not very happy with their customer service...I now have a 2T automatic backup EHD from Clickfree, you can set it to back up on a schedule and it will back up your computer and any EHDs you have. I've used this for several years and so far so good.

I have heard that backblaze is an online service that is worth looking into.

I use back blaze and love it. I haven't had any problems with it. And I like that if I need a backup i can download it, or for an additional cost have them send me an ehd or flash drive with my stuff. I also like that I can go online and see the file and restore just a few of I need to.

Oh Melissa that is so sad. :( I am sorry that you lost so much, but thrilled that your photos are safe.
CrashPlan is also my suggestion. After over a year of nothing but problems with Carbonite we switched to CrashPlan and have not had any problems. I love the mobile app where I can pull up files when I am away from home.

I use Backblaze $5 a month..on my card...painless and so worth it to me...
I too lost an EHD...makes me sick to my tummy thinking of it!

My computer guy also recommended crash plan. Thanks for all the ideas. My main "to do" for Wednesday is to find an online plan.

In the meantime I've going to figure out how to get weeks 4-6 done in 2014 and then move forward from there. :) it's a good time to be a Polly.

Oh my gosh Melissa! That is just awful. I'm so sorry that happened to you! :(

I use Backblaze, and I've been really happy with their customer service and the ease of using their product.

I am so sorry that happened to you!! Been there too!! Are you still backing up your stuff to Flickr? I learned that little trick from you, I think, and now I try to upload all my layouts and pictures there so that they are stored if something goes wrong. I know that still doesn't solve the digi scrap supplies. I probably should check into crash plan also. i have 2 EHD's but lately I have only been using the 1.

That's pretty much what happened to me - I used the EHD as a backup until it died. I don't trust them at all now. It was only a year old. So this is another vote for Crashplan. I "mozied" on over when Mozy upped their prices. they were running a special promotion because they knew Mozy increased prices. It was brilliant. You can even access your stuff from an ipad or iphone with their app. So far so good. Knock on wood.

So sorry you lost everything.

I've used Mozy, Carbonite, Crash Plan and Backblaze in the past. The one that I've personally been happiest with is Crash Plan (I liked Carbonite as well but didn't like the annual billing...monthly is just easier for my budget).

I'm using BackBlaze, but Crash Plan is sounding really interesting. I'd love to be able to access files remotely! But, since our internet is so super slow at home, it took forever to get the initial backup for BackBlaze done and I'm not sure I want to go through that again if I switch providers.

Yes, I have still been using flickr as. Sort of backup for my completed flattened PL pages and layouts. I will definitely be going in and downloading those. At least I was up to date with printing! I try to print every 8 weeks or so, and I had everything uploaded to Persnickety Prints and ready to print for December/January.

So sorry that you lost so much. I have 2 EHD's with photos and layouts on them (kits are on one) and I also have Backblaze. I had an EHD crash a few years ago as well, and it's a heartbreaker!

I use Carbonite and I have a time machine, too. I'm so paranoid about back ups. So sorry you lost stuff, Melissa!

I am so sorry that happened! I read about it on your blog and meant to comment then. I would be so sad, Melissa! I think you're handling it very well.

I've used Carbonite for the last few years and have been very happy with it. I've heard good things about Crash Plan, too.

Oh no, how awful Melissa! I'm so sorry you lost some stuff but glad to hear you have a backup on Flickr for your pages!

I'm using Crashplan too, I'm running a cloud backup and another backup to a spare drive in my PC.
