I've been MIA for a while around here, and I miss you guys!!

Thought I'd check in and say hi, and also ask for positive thoughts and prayers...

Over the weekend Dublin (my 2 year old puppy... yes, puppy... he most certainly does not have adult dog mentality yet, as he's a weimaraner, and a giant knucklehead!) had to have stomach surgery to have my daughter's knee sock removed from his guts. He apparently swallowed this 18-inch-long sock, half of which proceed on to his intestines, while the other half remained firmly lodged at the opening of his stomach. After the surgery the vet told me that, had we waited even a few more hours, his intestines most likely would have burst.... = not good.

Anyway, he came home Tuesday evening, and has been eating okay and acting okay. But last night he developed these large lumpy bumps on his abdomen and chest. So we are going back again today to be sure he doesn't have a hernia. Sigh.

I just want him to be okay. But I have to say, this has been one rather expensive sock!

oh goodness! poor baby. :(

dogs are damn crazy aren't they? trying to wrap my brain around your pup eating a huge long 18" sock like that. :dizzy hope all goes OK at the vet today ... please let us know how you make out.

Oh goodness! Did you know he had eaten it or did you take him in because he was obviously in distress? Our little guy has eaten some things in his time, but nothing that large. Hope he is back to his prior self soon, I've missed seeing your gorgeous photos of him in the gallery!

Oh....poor pup...hope he's okay. Sucks for you too b/c I bet the vet bill isn't cheap :(

Oh my - what an ordeal!! I hope the lumps are nothing serious and it's smooth sailing for you very soon!!!

Oh no, poor Dublin! I hope things are ok for him and the lumps and bumps are just a side effect and not something more serious. Poor pup.

oh Rebecca, how awful for all of you! I hope he is ok and that the lumps aren't anything serious.

No more knee high socks in the house! Kramer did something similar and it was a very horrible 72 hrs! I hope he is in the mend and doesn't have a hernia.

Oh my Rebecca! I am so thankful our Weim has never done that, but when you call him a big knucklehead...I know exactly what you mean! ;) Hope all is okay with him, and that you don't have any more incidents like this again.

oh my goodness, that IS an expensive sock. Bless his heart and yours--that is craziness. Hopefully he is doing better now!!

ohhh Rebbecah, I am so happy to see you back (I did notice you a bit absent) so so sorry about Dublin- prayers are with you-

I guess is like having a toddler, only you need to watch for more items than with a human toddler :(
So glad you guys caught it in time and praying for a speedy recovery Hugggzz

wow that's so bizaare to me but i've never had a pet dog and fortunately our birds only seem to chew on paper and nibble the rubber on flipflops - hope Dublin hasn't got a hernia after everything already!

Gosh, just read this and my heart stopped for a while. That poor sweet doggie...
I hope things got okay after you took him to the vet the second time.
Keep us posted, will you?
