OMG it's race week

I don't know if I mentioned this...
One of my very bestest friends' wife was diagnosed with stage 4 leukemia a few months ago. I'm an "acts of service" if you know the love languages (lol) so my first reaction was DOSOMETHINGDOSOMETHINGDOSOMETHING.
Someone set up a meal train, someone else took a collection for a house keeper, and I started a collection for a Kindle, which we were able to give her just before she started chemo.
But then I thought... what about a race? I'm an officer in the running club, which is a non-profit organization, so we could put on a race, and give them the proceeds.
So that's what I'm doing. We are having a 4 mile race and 1 mile family walk. We figured 70-100 people.
250 are registered.
It's this Saturday. You can't fathom the logistics of this. Shirts/Water/Food/Medals/Permits/Traffic Cones/etc etc etc. I THINK everything is ready to go (thankfully I've had tons of help, some from people who don't even know my friend... this is the best town ever). I haven't been nervous yet, but I feel like it might be coming.
But I'm more excited than anything. I remember telling him that I was just hoping the race would make SOME profit. We have to pay $450 for the timing company, $250 to rent the building we are using, buy the shirts, buy the medals, etc. But we've gotten so many generous sponsors, that I'm going to be able to give him a big fat check.
Oh, and, this is going to be an annual race now. Next year we will pick a different family. My town is so amazing for real!
