Down the toilet i am gutted,i can text on it and the volume keeps switching between headphones and normal,so i googled it and currently have it in a bag of rice, any other ideas i could do with it

Nope! Make sure its off and put it in rice for no less than 24 hours. This was very hard for me to do since me and my iphone are very connected! And yes.....I dropped mine in the toilet also! Just thankful it was after I had flushed! Bwahahahahah :)

Oh my goodness! Hope the rice fixes it up!

I dropped mine into the sink while I was doing dishes once! The rice worked a miracle! Hope it works for you too!

Make sure you've removed the battery, tho, I don't know how to do that on an iPhone... I just know they always say to take the battery out first thing on cell phones that get wet... But otherwise I hope you're able to save it

Wow, that is so cool about the rice. I never knew that. I will have to remember it.

BTW - Hope your phone is a-ok!

Ack, no insurance? I paid $99 for the insurance because I KNOWWW I'm going to do something like this.

You can't take the battery out of an iPhone. =/

Yup! I've heard and done the rice thing on my dh's phone (wasn't an iphone) when he jumped in the river with his phone, but it was too late for his. I guess he should have removed the battery and immediately dunked it in the rice but I don't think he did all that. Didn't know the rice thing could work on the iPhone. :pray

And...no one is asking the obvious question...were you actually texting while on the loo?:whistle

Ha! I don't think I've ever heard it called that except from that commercial (the one that has the guy naming all of the names for the toilet :giggle)

hmm yep i was texting id put it on the top of the cistern and then knocked it off when i went to flush,so yep i hadnt flushed either ha ha ha,anyway it works now but the light from the camera remains on and the camera is blurry so hoping that drys out and ive given it a good clean with the baby wipes lol, didnt wanna risk more water

Oh that's horrible! I hope you can get it working again!

I did this a couple months ago with my Droid! I pulled every piece apart that I could (battery, memory card, back plate) and put it all separately in rice for about 20 hours. Put it back together and it did work, but it was a little wonky. Hasn't been the same since, to be honest. Kind of sluggish and does crazy stuff every once in a while. The touchscreen wasn't as responsive. And battery loses life crazy fast. Anyway, it DOES work fine, just not the same.

I wasn't texting and toileting, though LOL. It was in my pocket (very shallow pockets...duh me!) and when I pulled up my pants, I heard a kathunk. I've never dropped my drawers so fast and dunked my hand into the toilet before!

I wasn't texting and toileting,

ROFL
I'm so going to use that! We need public service announcements, "don't text and toilet"!!!
Karen, don't feel bad, this is such a common occurence since smart phones became popular that there is even a name for it...its called "dropping an iTurd"! I hope it works ok after it dries out!
