Ok, so... we moved to this city back in July. We loved it immediately, and began to make plans to build this phase of our lives here. I joined the Artist Guild, started scoping out a booth spot in the local Antique Malls and even planned to be one of the artists of "Uncorked and Artsy"- a live street event with wine tastings and artists selling. DH got hired right away for a Lead position. But there were complications with corporate and owner so that did not materialize- leaving us short $$ big time. Then the house we were to buy also fell into court battles due to owner issues. The house had a separate apt complete with kitchen that was to be my studio as it was already dually zoned. So we have decided to move. I was really sad about losing some of those dreams. BUT
I've posted a few layouts about my relationship with son and DIL - -(mostly DIL).
The relationship began with misunderstandings. It is soooo much better now- almost 6 years later! And last night she texted me asking if once we are moved we could share a booth at the market there!!!!
She has a B.A. in fine arts and is a potter. I have dreamed of doing this since they got engaged!! I am soooo excited about what God is doing- even if it means letting go of a few things and letting Him create new ones- BETTER ones! Now we will be near for all the Littles' events, babysitting, family nights, etc!! AND to do art with her - I though that might still be a few years from now. But something amazing is happening in our relationship and I couldn't be more grateful!
Isn't it amazing how our plans pale in comparison to what he has planned for us? I'm so excited for your relationships to be flourishing and resulting in so much happiness for your family!
@AJK Thankyou Amanda for sharing this part of your journey.
Isn't it encouraging when we see plans go astray but turn out for the better in the end.
I am presently praying this over our Sunday Worship ... too long a story to share but I am praying the outcome will help my husband to see the wisdom behind my discernment.
That is fantastic Amanda! I always say things happen for a reason. Sorry the house didn't work out, but everything else is working out bettre for you. Yay for happiness Congratulations!!
What's that saying "we plan, God laughs" I'm so glad that things are working out for you and that you're going to be able to do art together with your DIL! Sounds wonderful!
I can sorta understand that. My MIL lived in NY while we lived in Indiana. She passed at the early age of 47, so I didn't really get any time with her. Then hubster found his biological family after 40+ years, and sadly, his "birth" mom has dementia. So creating with MIL just was not part of my life. My Mom is creative, and we have always done stuff together. But this- with Jess, is such a BIG answer to prayers that y'all just don't know...it IS truly miraculous!!!!!!!!
I was in your gallery looking at some of your recent pages ... I got inklings of something big happening through seeing some of your pages separatley - but reading the full story here in the forum brings it full circle. I am sorry about the giving up on some things, but it sounds like what you are getting is going to be so much more. Home is where the heart is ... you have so much heart Amanda, I know you will make a home wherever you end up next! And congrats - so glad your relationship with DIL is continuing to blossom further!
