Finlay who is 7 doesnt ask for much but this evening has asked for a blackberry phone!!!.

He has sobbed his little heart out because i said that 1 he doesnt use the cheap tacky phone he has,2 he doesnt have enough birthday money and 3 he isnt old enough i feel so bad because he rarely asks for anything but i cant justify buying a 7 year old a blackberry,i told him that he will have it stolen off him,we have reached a compromise and ive told him he can spend £40 of his birthday money on a better phone and we will go look at them

If you are bad, I must be HORRIBLE!

Moo will be 7 in November... she doesn't have a phone nor will I get her one any time soon... she just isn't responsible enough. Her 14 year old brother just got a phone this year, and I am still leary of that decision! :)

he's 7!!!!!!!!
LOL
my daughter was 13, before she got her own little crappy phone.

and i STILL didn't want her to have one.

(although it has been nice being able to get hold of her when i needed her.)

are we talking "real" cell phone here Karen? My 8 year olds are no where near getting their own real cell phone, much less the 6 year old :lol

He only has his crappy one cause it was free with the paper a d he never uses it anyway seen his friends sister has a blackberry and esculated from there lol he got over it now and I'm gonna avoid the subject tomorrow

lol

if you wait long enough maybe he'll forget about it.

go buy him some legos to distract him.
ROFL

Boy am I ever a bad mommy. I won't even let my almost 16 year old have a phone. She said I need one, and I said "no you don't. Everyone else has one. Just borrow theirs. LOL"

my 12 year old JUST got one and she had to EARN it by getting straight A's all year. personally, i think it was a GOOD mommy moment that you said no! LOL

yep good mommy! 7yr olds don't need phones unless there is a very good reason. IMO :)

good for you for saying no. None of my boys had them until they were in high school. They are wonderful to have, but they are also very scary. Just sayin'.

Oh, Karen!!!!!!!! My oldest who is 10 1/2 wants one soooooo bad. I told him he can't have one because he can't pay for the monthly bill! He has no reason to have one other than wanting to be like his friends. There's NO way I'm buying him one for that reason. You're not a bad mom!!!
