So we get our bill for our Verizon Phone and it's about 2.00 over. Apparently we are being charged for a downloaded song. However, my DH and I really do not like phone technology and actually had our text messaging turned off our phone! So the idea that we would download a (what turns out to be a rap song) is kinda crazy.

After looking all over the bill and not finding a phone number, I go on the web to try and get a phone number. It won't even give me customer service phone number, or even a store location, until I turn on cookies! Finally I find a number through google maps and call. Of course there are hoops there too, but not to bad. I finally get someone and she says, you have to take the phone into a store and have them verify that it was not downloaded on to the phone. No they don't know how the charge got there if we did not ask for it.

So I go to the store. To even speak to a person I have to go up to a screen, touch it, type in my last & first name and phone number and problem. Uggh. I finally talk to someone. The phone shows that there was no download on the phone. No they don't know how the charge got there. And now I have to go home and call customer service to have the charge removed. No the customer service in the store can not do that.

(They also reactivate our on-line account. I started the process once before of changing my password, but because I don't get text messages, there was no way to complete the process.)

I call again and jump through those hoops again. Then I have the charge removed and ask to speak to a manager. First to complain about all the intricacies of removing a 2.00 charge and second to give them my conspiracy theory about how the charge got there. (I think it's someone at the company. I mean who takes the time to figure out your account info for a $2.00 rap song. It has to be someone in the company who has the account info. KWIM)

No manager is available. You can go on-line and fill out a report. Sorry I have no more desire to participate in their three ring circus.

I know I'm not a big follower of technology. (It comes from not having the desire to figure it out after chasing after 5 kids.) It sure seems to me that Verizon's technology is really making everyone's life harder. So am I getting crabby in my old age and being unreasonable?

ok... now you are gonna make me comb over my Verizon bill too! :)

Not "old" Claire... I'd say you are smart... I think a lot of companies put all these 3 ring circus acts into their customer service in hopess of you saying "it's not worth $2" and just giving up and succumbing to a 2 buck loss... and if they get that response to 50% of their customer base that $2 can equal up to a whole lot more.

wow. i would say verizon's customer service sucks. i know exactly how much my phone bill is and any change catches my eye. about 5 months ago i saw a strange charge - something downloaded to my son's phone. i call him - he says no. i call back sprint and they remove the charge.

yes, technology can be a pita when it's not working but i'd def be calling customer service on your circus adventures.

wow, that is crazy.

I saw a weird charge on our cell bill and called AT&T and in just a few minutes they reversed it.

there should be a customer service number that you can use to call Verizon directly from your cell w/o incurring any charges. i want to say it's 6 something something 611?

as for how the charge got to your acct, I wonder if someone just accidentally transposed some numbers or something when they were buying a song. :shrug

I was actually just reading some message board posts somewhere about Verizon and their customer service. Seems these $2 charges are very common. What a scam they have going!! If half of the customers don't look at their bills very closely they are raking in the bucks!

I also heard that they are making it impossible to not have the expensive data plan. Only a couple of low quality "junk" phones qualify for the non-data plan. What a joke!

Makes me mad.

Sorry you had to fight through all that!!

The most frustrating thing to me is that they seem to want to cater to only those that are on the cutting edge of technology. I just want a phone that calls. That's it. KWIM

Oh my goodness! What a pain to remove 2 dollars! I think a lot of companys do that because most people would rather just pay the $2.00 than go through all that hassle! I hope you have a better day now sweetie!

wow that is so wrong. I'm glad you got the $2 off but that is so not right to have to go to so much trouble. You probably paid heaps more than $2 in petrol driving to their store and back!

What a pain in the booty. I'm glad you got it sorted but what a rigamarole.
