No flowers for me for mother's day...

YAY! :yesss

Not sure if I am the only person that thinks this way, but I think that flowers are for dead people. I do NOT like for people to give me flowers, plants is different, but flowers creep me out.

Last night, I told hubby "NO FLOWERS, actually NO GIFTS. I am buying my own gift this year".... yep, I just placed my order for my Mother's day present! :wooot

Are you getting something for yourself?

So what did you order yourself for Mother's Day or will you be surprising yourself??? Hee heee! Nope I'm not a big flower person either. I wouldn't mind if he picked wild flowers from a field but store bought not so much. For mother's day, I just like the chance to go see a movie by myself! ;0)

yeah, I always see the flowers as dead money...money spent on dead things bhahah
I do love live plants, and would be over the moon happy with roses or big bushes or trees for my yard! lol!

Shannon, I ordered myself a re-furbished Vitamix. I am so happy about it, PLUS I got a free shipping coupon... SCORE!!!!!

I was about to say... Dalis, you can't post here that you got yourself something special and not tell us what it is. Unless you went and got yourself a stripper... then don't tell me. *blush*
b/c then I'd be all jealous that I didn't get one! :giggle

My dh and boys used to go out and pick wildflowers for me on mother's day. He's not one to spend money on flowers, and that's fine by me!!

The only gifts I like are time spent with my family. I think whoever is here will take me to see Iron Man...because I'm going with or without them! :)

I hate spending money on flowers too!!! It's like, if you want to spend $20 on me, buy me something I'll still have in a week! (although, I will not complain if you take me out to dinner, so it's totally illogical, ha!) I technically got a camera for Mother's Day, but I"m buying radlab this weekend, so I'm counting that as my present!

Mothers Day I usually go to Home Depot and buy all my annuals. That's the only flowers I want. But I already did that last weekend, so I guess no flowers for me, either. :)

Flowers are a waste of money.....IMHO! I'd prefer a gift certificate or even just dinner out.

I love flowers - but that's probably b/c we don't see any growing outside for 6 months of the year here!
I'm sure I'll get something for my gardens for mother's day.

Not a flower lover receiver here either. Not because I don't like them, but they are too expensive for how long they last. I hate getting jewelry for a gift also. I would much rather have something computer or photography related. My husband gets my weirdness but still buys flowers. I think he just can't work it out in his head that he doesn't have to buy them for me. He usually buys me these really pretty mixed arrangements though and they put a smile on my face so I really can't complain.

The last few Mother's Days he has bought some kind of project kit that he helps my kids make for me and those are my absolute favorite things to receive.

If I ever get myself a stripper for Mother's day, I will pay him the ticket to go visit you too. I pinky promise!

Maybe some orchids for inside the house?

AMEN!

I don't mind flowers so much, but not for special occasions. I'd rather clip some daisies in my garden during the summer, or pick up a small bunch at the Farmer's Market for no reason at all.

I also ordered myself something for Mother's Day - cuz let's face it...if I don't buy myself something, nobody will. lol

What is that? Stencils?

Something for the garden sounds nice.

Oh I love those too.

Oh I am so the opposite Dalis! I absolutely adore cut flowers. I like to treat myself to a small bunch each month to cheer up the front hallway. I hate getting plants with a passion - I don't have a green thumb and I can't keep them looking good at all. At least with flowers when they die I know it's not my fault!

I did part time work in florist shops when I was a student and it was the best job ever.

This is me too. A live plant is just one more thing to take care of. I used to have tons of house plants and I killed them all. Poor things didn't deserve me. :sorry

Honestly, I love cut flowers! It is a bit sad when they wilt, but I do love a vase of fresh flowers. This probably has to do with the fact that dh wooed me with flowers. I got a flower arrangement almost every week when we were dating, through our engagement, and pretty often during the first year we were married. He doesn't give them as often now, but I still get them a few times a year and love them.

For me, they're a reminder of our closeness and how much we love each other. I know that's pretty sappy, so stopping reading if I'm making you nauseous...:love

Seth didn't bring home flowers, Jason couldn't go to school b/c of having pneumonia....not sure what Tim and the boys picked out. I am sure it's NOT flowers though!!! LOL

I didn't even now what a Vitamix was. LOL! Had to look it up. Good gift! And hey, free shipping. Even better!!!!

can I interrupt this thread for a minute!?
my 8 year old who has struggled more than any child should, has worked so hard and brought me the

Kim and Suzanne, I am NOT in any shape or form a person with a green thumb! The only thing that has survived is the orchid and my sister told me "That says a lot of you. The only plant you haven't killed is a parasite!". I love my sister. LOL!!!

I have been wanting one badly, because my green smoothies are chunky (I know totally yucky!).

I hope he is feeling better.
