Hi Everyone. I'm new to both Digi-Scrapping and The Lilypad. During the birthday celebration chats I keep seeing people mentioning Project Life. I am really interested in learning more about it. I see loads of posts here but I'd like a bit more general information about what project life is. If I understand correctly it is a way of documenting every day life with photos and journal cards you write or print out and put in pockets. Past that I'm a bit lost. Do you have to buy the Becky Higgins stuff to do this? Can I do the journaling digitally then print things out on cardstock? Can I make it about my husband and me in the same book? We don't have kids...yet. Where do you start? I'm sorry for all the questions. I've been wanting to do more journaling and it looks like this could be a fun way to do it! I also think it could be fun getting journaling from my husband and taking more photos! Any help would be so appreciated! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend and are enjoying the birthday celebrations! Best Wishes, Roni

Project Life can be anything you want it to be, really! Some people buy the page protectors and do it with paper/hybrid, some are doing it all digital. And you can include anyone or anything you want! There are no rules!

Welcome to TLP :)

Hi, Roni! It was nice chatting with you last night.

I'm only on my third week of Project Life but I've been enjoying it so far. I do have children but they are older and not providing much in the way of artwork or cute little things. My daughter is away at college and I include her with iPhone photos that she sends me, screen shots of texts with her and information from phone calls. My son is a senior in high school so I thought his senior year would be a good one to document and his first semester of college. So far, mine is a mix of digi elements and the Clementine core kit, leaning pretty far toward digi.

I would recommend starting with the creative team blogs from Project Life. There is a good mix of all paper, all digi and hybrid there. Some of the team don't have children at this point, some do. You'll see a variety of different styles, easier and more complicated and see which one strikes a chord with you.

Also, I would imagine many of us here have blogs and may post our own pages there as well as the Project Life gallery here.

I look forward to seeing your pages!

Hey Roni! Welcome to TLP and the wonderful addiction that is digital scrapbooking! Great questions and don't apologize for asking.. if you have these questions, chances are there are other people wondering the same thing. :)

Here is a video by Becky Higgins, explaining what Project Life is. VIDEOS HERE. You certainly do not have to buy her products to jump in on this project though. You can make the project whatever works for you. The January BYOC (Build Your Own Collab) here at the Lilypad was all about PL so there are tons of great options here to get you started. You can use them all digitally or print them out and stick them in the pockets.

Also, here's a thread someone else started about PL withouts kids: https://the-lilypad.com/forums/showthread.php?15453-PL-without-children

Just wanted to say "welcome Roni"!! Project Life is so fun...for me it's a great way to document our everyday life.

You don't have to buy the Becky Higgens page protectors, although that's what I use and love them! I also do all of my cards in photoshop and then print them out and assemble them into my album. Doing my text on my cards first before printing is so much better...but that's just me! :)

I second Stacy in starting with the PL Creative Team Blogs. You can find them here.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Ok, looking at all the links and videos, I'm sold! I can't seem to find a place I can take a closer look at the cards though. I see some colors and patterns but I'd love more of a feel for each kit so I can decide what I'm going to order. It feels like a big investment and money is tight. I'm thinking of getting some digital stuff here also. I saw on someone's blog that I can print on the PL cards using my printer and I like that idea. That way I can write or print and I can get my husband involved (he doesn't know Photoshop Elements). Any info about getting a closer look at each kit would be great. I didn't see many photos on Amazon unless I'm overlooking things. Thanks so much for all of your help! Happy Sunday, Roni

Here's a closer look at the cards:

I kind of wish I hadn't bought the physical kit though 'cause I got the digital version of Clementine too and I've just been using all the PL cards of mine and the other designers too!

The digital versions of the cards are here:

I use the digital cards, print my text on them...print everything out...them assemble everything physically and add in little bits and stuff. You can take a look at my PL here...

Honestly I really like lots of cards I see in the store here. Does anyone know if some people just skip the kit and print out cards from here and print ones they design themselves? Approximately how many cards would you think I need for a year if I did a two page spread each week? On Amazon it looks like many styles of the pages with the pockets aren't available. Do you think they'll come back in soon? Again, thanks so much for all of the ideas! This is going to be fun!

The page protectors are supposed to be in next month...back at Amazon.

I know a lot of the people skipped the kit and just use other journal cards...that's kind of what I've ended up doing (although I bought the kit, but not really using it). I'm not sure how many you'd need in a year, I'm just going week by week...my brain can't think that far in advance! :)
