Hi everyone I'm so excited to share with you a brand new challenge for the summer months. Every two weeks I'll be issuing an art journaling challenge specifically for pocket scrapping.
For more information on this project, please visit this blog post.
For our first challenge Valeria of Little Butterfly Wings will be providing all of the participants with a $2 gift certificate. Layouts can be either hybrid or digital.
Our first challenge is to scrap a personal goal. It can be big or little, long or short term. Here's my page.
And a few more pages to inspire you.

To participate in the challenge , just post your layout in the gallery (it must at least be 50% TLP product per gallery guidelines) and then link us up here in the challenge thread. All layouts posted by 11:59 p.m. EDT on June 21st will receive the $2 coupon the the Little Butterfly Wings store. I can't wait to see what goals you share with us!
Snap! is a brand by Simple Stories. Basically, the Snap! album is just a small version of a pocket scrapping album (6"x8"). I know a lot of people use them for Project Life type pages and they're really popular for projects like December Daily and Week in the Life because of their small size.
Thanks! I have never touched PL (because I discovered it mid year and want to start at the beginning of next year). I love to make paper, the first challenge will be fun!
Very cool Sarah.. I do not do PL stuff but I will give it a go... I think it would be fun even if not having a snap album or PL to make something occasionally as a daily quote for personal inspiration Going to try this
I seriously LOVE the look of PL layouts, but don't PL ... I LOVE art journaling and art journal all the time ... it never once occurred to me to try combining the two. Seriously thinking I am in on this one!
Yaaay! So glad y'all are excited about this! Since I've mostly moved to hybrid this gives me a way to still express myself in a way that makes sense for me right now. Loving seeing what everyone is doing digi as well!
There are some 6"x8" templates in the shop, but not traditional pocket page format. You could take a 12x12 template and rearrange the pieces to create a 6"x8" size fairly easily though.
6"x8" templates would be an awesome addition to the shop though.
I am not a PL person either, but I can see making some of these cards as a favorite quote or something like that... can even use it as a post card and mail it after printing on card stock Just a thought for the non PLers.... I did a 4x6 using VW's template
I was perusing the gallery today and came across this awesome layout from christineirion. I thought it fit the challenge perfectly (personal goals) so I wanted to share it with y'all. This one uses a 12x12 format and I thought this might offer more inspiration on the project. I just love her list of hopes for summer vacation!
Another noob AJ question...is there a standard AJ page size? I see a lot of rectangles going on in various galleries. Is that the norm? Also, for us digi scrappers, should we use a plastic pocket looking layer? Thanks! I have a feeling I'm going to have more questions haha. AJ scares me but dangit I will learn!
For this challenge it's up to you whether you want to use the plastic pocket layers or not. I think just the grid format looks great in digi. But it totally depends upon what look you're going for.
As far as size goes, that's totally up to you as well. I use the 6"x8" because I'm doing it hybrid and that's the size of the album I have. It totally works in 8.5"x11" or 12"x12" as well!
Also check out the regular art journaling challenges as well. Lots of fun ideas in there too. And peruse the Art Journaling gallery, I promise it'll give you lots and lots of great ideas!
