Here in Australia our schooling year is winding down and getting ready for the long Summer break. It is a time of exams, assignments, goodbyes and parties.

This next few weeks are going to be huge here at at my place, with both my girls finishing their respective schooling levels. My eldest Bella is finishing High School and is looking forward to University and adulthood, and my youngest Tasha is finishing her primary schooling and is looking forward to starting High School in the new year, making new friends and starting new adventures.

The next few weeks are filled with orientation days, graduation assemblies, masses, dinners and parties :dizzy. The end is nigh! Both girls are dealing with these up coming life changes a whole lot better than me, their mother! I want to grab them both and hold them tight to stop time in its tracks :hissy.

So while I know that this process is right and good, and that they are growing up and becoming the young people I hoped and dreamed they would be I guess I just need a big old hug to get me through! :heartslub

Here they are, my girls. Tasha (with her goofy smile) just got fitted out for her new uniform for next year and wanted to have a photo of her with Bella in her uniform and her senior tie. **sniff sniff**

Oh, Amanda. I totally get it. It's bittersweet watching them go from our babies to real live grown ups :). Enjoy this crazy time, cherish every minute of it and count your every blessing.

<<<<HUGS>>>>

Sending you a big {{hug}} these things are tough on us moms. Just want to capture them and hold them close a little bit longer don't we?

I know where you're coming from, mine has been attending university presentations and just sat for his grad photos yesterday. I can't believe we're here already.

Aw! Big hugs to you Momma! Your girls are so sweet in their uniforms together! I love it! Just keep taking those pictures and you can relive everything over and over again when you have time to scrap them.

no no no no, throws myself on ground and kicks and screams!

okay, brushing myself off, here is a big ol' hug...
why is it?
we love seeing them grow and achieve all that they can....
but
so want them to stay small and snuggly

I want both! lol

Love that photo Amanda. And YES to what Anne said...We want them to grow up into responsible adults, but at the same time we want to hang on to them and keep them small and snuggly. Sending you big (((HUGS)).:beat

oh amanda dear ... so hard! mine are not as far along as yours (one in his first year of high school and the other will be in high school next year) but i can only imagine what you are feeling and will feel just the same when that day comes here. big hugs to you sweetie. your girls are so lovely, thanks for sharing that sweet photo! :)

Ditto to what Anne said - I've got the same mixed up emotions for my boys, and they're much younger than your girls. The only thing you can do is enjoy the time with them and take lots of photos to relive these moments years from now. :)

Aw... SO bittersweet! A big hug to you!! (And promise me you'll do the same in May when my baby gets ready to go to the middle school! :( )

:heartslub Oh Amanda - I literally do know hat you are going through as it is Meaghan's last week of High school and Henry is year 6 - we still have a testing week and then formals, discos and grad dinners to go so they are dragging it out.

So mutual hugs :grouphug, you should be proud to have such gorgeous girls!

It is tough watching them grow up when you just want to squish 'em back small again but OH SO rewarding to be able to interact with them as amazing young adults.

wow that is a tough combo - one finishing primary plus the other finishing secondary - i can't imagine how u are/or aren't dealing - i'd be in the fetal position or something, i'm in denial about my 'baby' who's turning 6y.o. going into yr 1 next year. All i can offer is hugs and the 'this too shall pass' quip... part of life's journey - u could scrap this pic for the one word 'journey' challenge (not sure that would make u feel better or worse though!)

You have our "permission" to hold them tight and keep them there for a bit! XOXO

They are lovely and it's so totally natural for you to be feeling this way. Glad to hear that they're dealing with it well. Hugs to you, Mama!

Big hugs for you Amanda! I am with Anne, I want it both ways, to keep them little and near me and to watch them grow exactly they way we dreamt they would, and I am doing that with grandkids now! I remember my oldest when she flew away across the country to start college, one of the most proud AND hardest times of motherhood! So big hugs for you!
