Hi guys,
I am sure I saw a thread at some point, maybe a couple of weeks ago...I haven't been well and the coordination thing for reading doesn't work well, not even with the new medication, I couldn't find the thread (it maybe staring at me, but I can't find it)

Need a bit of advice for Online Backup.

I'm on iMac
I had BackBlaze for a couple of years, no problems.
A few weeks ago, I had a pop up telling me the backup was compromised and they had frozen the backup and I had to uninstall/uninstall again
I went to the instructions and didn't understand a thing, I did try, but I couldn't even find the place where am supposed to uninstall from.
I write to them asking for someone to call me to help me through it
They answer back with the written instructions
and not answering the couple of 1questions I made, which annoyed me as it meant is all automated.
I wrote again, with lots of caps telling them I needed to have someone on the phone guiding me...
they said they don't do that.
we exchanged a number of emails discussing why they couldn't do it and they just tell you what is written and if you change the questions they get lost, and I carried on being annoyed, stressed and frustrated by now...
so I want to leave and get another service.
Do any of you know a backup system online that doesn't slow the computer?
because that was the very best feature of back-blaze, you don't even notice is being backed up....
I would be grateful if someone knows something worth paying/having....

Thanks so much in advance!!!

I agree with Lorry. I had carbonite for a few years... It never did get all of my backup completed. UGH!

I switched to CrashPlan and am happy with the service and really like their mobile app! I can actually view photos anywhere without storing them onboard any of my devices, sucking up valuable Candy Crush memory! :giggle

we use SugarSync - as we are a multi-platform house, PCs, Mac, Android, IOS, you name it. UI has improved greatly over the last year, but the price has also gone up over the last few years as well. Restore was quick the one time I needed it. Cloud services are awesome - having data pushed across to my iPad from my PC or cranky Android phone is worth it.

I've cut costs considerably by splitting services: I use flickr to back up all my photos, and trying it now as well for photobook sized scrapbook layouts (8x8 JPEGs). Am grandfathered in on an old flickr pro plan for unlimited uploads, which definitely saves on cost as it allowed me to go with a lesser GB SugarSync plan. HTH!

thanks girls, will try sleep a bit now as I didnt get to sleep last night, tomorrow will go have a look, ...am actually really frustrated because the pricfe for BackVlaze was very convenient for me....we only have the 2 computers and Sarita has an iphone but as far as IO know she only moves music to the phone...Back Blaze was under 50 dollars a year, which means something like £35, which I probably spend in cigarrtes in much less than a month... right,of to sleep then, I will check both sites tomorrow :)
thanks so much!

Happy with Crash Plan too. I have a 20% discount for friends so let me know if you'd like to check it out. You can try the month free and decide if you like the interface. I had a bug but managed to find the answer on the net by myself and all is good now so I couldn't say how is there help service. I hope you find the right solution for you.

I was talking to Trista about this this afternoon Nini, will go have a look at the prices, and yes, discount will be more than welcome!!!!
I ll talk to you soon :)
Hugggzzz

Nini thanks for the link, I went to customer service via chat online and they have telephone support screen share, the lot, so I'm asking BackBlaze to give my money back and will get the crash plan :)
thanks , talk soon

We use CrashPlan and I love it! We've had no issues and I feel so much better knowing that all of my stuff is backed up!I highly recommend them!

Those that use CrashPlan - I have it on my computer and LOVE it. Such a secure feeling. Can I backup DH's computer online also? I don't want to back him up to my computer.

Yes, thanks!!! I did get Crash Plan in the weekend....
The guy they have on chat online live is AMAZING..... he was ever so patient with me, I kept closing the chat wondow by mistake, needed lots of gudance to get my settings right....he went through it all, even joking with me to make me feel comfortable, he said he has people that are far worse than me (though I reckon he was trying to make me feel better LOL

Not only their customer service rocks, the prive is great, but also, Backblaze wa obnly backing up one of my EHDs, I have two, they said the bigger one couldn't be bacled up bercause I had it sert to do TRime Machine backls ups, though I never use it as such....
wellm, the Crash Plan guy said nonsense,
click here click there uncick that box (the Time Machine back ups) and pronto!!!!
they are backing BOTH my EHDs!!!!!!! yay!!!
on top of that, they sent me a progress report, 5 days, almost 30% is backed up, I was impressed....

I did thank you guys on Facebook? NinI & Trista? not sure if youy saw it :)

as for backing up your husband's if I understood right, you wikll need to add another computer and get the system to start backing him up, you need to get another back uop plan, their family plan is cheaper but is worth it with more than 3 computers only...but yes, of course you can back him up,,,only have to pay for ghi9s serparately...but I am not 100% sure, my memory is bad and I maybe remembering something I read on Backblaze swwy :(

Those with CrashPlan, do you upload your psd-files-LOs too?

Yup, I've jumped onto this bandwagon, all thanks to Nini. And I'm halfway there re my kits. Now it's the LOs' turn.

i've started using smugmug to back up my photos and layouts. so far i like it. it's pretty inexpensive per year, i thought. and it allows you to create a gallery to share with people if you would like. but i will keep crash plan in mind if i decide i don't like smugmug after i test drive it for a bit.

I have crash plan and I have all my digi kits, photos and layouts I created amongst other files on my computer backed up. I have around 900gig backed up through them last year they had a black fridaybsale, and depending on when you bought the cheaper the price was. I purchased at 11 dollars for the whole year. My hey sent me a renewal for 59 dollars for 14 months
