Hello everyone, CTM Ann-Sofie here. I can’t believe it’s July already, but here we are and I’m bringing you the NBK-Design July challenge.
This month I want you to combine at least two different kits/collections, one must be a Christmas/winter themed kit and one must be a spring/summer themed kit. You choose how many items from each kit you want to use, but you must blend one paper from each kit together for the background. One of the papers must be a patterned paper.
The easiest way to blend papers is with a mask and you find a tutorial here. Kayla is blending a photo, but it could just as well be two papers blended together. If you don’t want to create a mask, Nicole has a lot of masks in her shop and you could also use a magic light or an artsy bit for a mask. Another way of blending two papers together is by using the gradient tool. You find a tutorial by Jan here. A third way is by using the blending mode and there is a tutorial by Anne here, that can be helpful. I’m sure there are more ways to blend two papers together and you can use whatever technique you want.
Here is my example page where I have used the Unwrap the Magic collection and the brand new Poppy Extravaganza collection. I blended the Poppy scene paper with the Shabby wood paper using the Darken blend mode. I then used a mask and added the light green paper under the Poppy scene paper.
From the Christmas kit I have used a frame, splatter stamp, washi, tag, two artsy bits, a label and one word art. The rest is from the summer themed kit.

and Angela used masks as her blending technique in this fabulous clean page.

- Blend two background papers (one from each kit) using any technique. At least one paper must be a patterned paper.
- This challenge runs from July 1st to July 31st.
- ONE lucky scrapper will be randomly chosen to win a $8 coupon to the NBK-Design store.
- You must use 100% NBK-Design Products.
- Post your layout in the NBK-Design Gallery and in this forum and link your layout to the gallery.
