We came home to this last night:

If you don't know what that is - it's our new puppy's crate. You see, we went with a canvas one, against our better judgement. Our 25lb. 3 month old puppy somehow became houdini and got himself out of that hole at the upper part of the crate. The hole is maybe the size of my hand! I still don't know how he did it! Which meant he pee'd on my floor, had every stuffed animal out from the girls' room and had a hay day! What did I get myself into?! :dizzy

And to top it off, my husband took out some hotdog buns from the freezer to dethaw while we got a workout in. We just came upstairs and found the empty bag and lots of crumbs all over our kitchen floor. HE ATE A WHOLE PACKAGE OF BUNS!

I can't say we weren't warned though! :groan He's so stinkin' cute too that it's hard to get mad, but I'm getting there! My hubby wants to spend $900 on a really good trainer in the area, and I am getting more and more tempted to do that, but wowzers, that's a TON of money for me!

See -how can I get mad at a face like that?!

LOL But look at that face. It's a darn good thing he's cute!! We had a golden retriever once upon a time and he use to just do holy terror things too when he was a puppy. He ate Insulation and a door frame once!! But they grow up.

omgosh! Seriously I couldn't get mad at that little face either! He's the cutest thing ever! lol

Oh dear. I've been debating on a trainer for mine too. Iffy to justify it by thinking $900 in damages or $900 in training. Still haven't gone with the training but... I'm trying to convince myself too.

I know Julie - I can't say you didn't warn me! :duh

Heather - It is such a big debate here! I would love to have him trained, and it would be great if he would obey the basic commands, but some of the things he does I sit here and think "no training could stop him from doing that" KWIM?! I mean if we are gone there's no amount of training that will keep him from trying to get out of his crate! The crazy thing is, he really actually likes his crate, so I was a bit suprised!

OMG he is SO SO cute!! <3 Our dog gives us these great times too! LOLOLOL!

Manda and Heather - honestly, sometimes the training is more for you than the dog. It really helps YOU to become the alpha dog, and help you understand that you control him, and not the other way around :)

Oh good gravy LOL. I can see why it would be impossible to hold on to the anger for longer than a fleeting moment...look at that face!!

so cute! My kids keep my money tied up - so no pets here...
Plus, like I told Heather, I'm sooooo over potty training!

yes, see, this is like reasons #1-100 why I am staying away from doggies. i love their sweet little faces. but i do not love their messes. and i do not love poo in my yard. end of story.

He's adorable! It's too hard to get angry at a face like that. Besides, if you don't respond to his behaviour within about 2 seconds of him doing it, he's just going to think you are being mean for no reason. Or like lots of people do, if you call him over and then give him heck, he'll think he's getting heck because he came over to you. Dogs have surprisingly short memories when it comes to their behaviour. No sense doing anything about it now. Other than perhaps dabbing hot pepper sauce (we used tobasco) or bitter apple on the edges of the canvas "hole" so puppy gets some very yucky feedback the next time he attempts this! ;)

That is so true!

Never would have thought of the hot sauce HeatherB! So far he's been good again - seems like he goes in streaks!

He is SO cute!
Our dog Sirius ate an entire corned beef and cabbage meal while I was getting the family to come in from the back yard. Nate never forgave him. :)
They are a pain but so worth it!
