National Cheese Day

Ooh! I love lots of cheeses. I really like Muenster slices for sandwiches, but I like lots of different ones in the shredded variety. I also enjoyed some cream cheese on a bagel this morning which was a treat. I haven't had one of those in a LONG time.

I had a bagel this morning too (half), but I topped mine with some cottage cheese blended with some blueberries.

Oooh... that sounds delightful! I might have to try that! I love all those things, just never thought to put them together. :)

I blended the cottage cheese and blueberries yesterday, it tasted better this morning, blueberries seemed to come through more. First time I tried it. Strawberries would be good too.

I am seriously a cheese-oholic :lol
I am sad that I missed celebrating this day! My hubby teases me all the time about how much cheese I buy. It gives me anxiety for the cheese space in the fridge gets close to empty! I'm not sure I can pick a favorite. It depends on what I'm eating at the time. I always say that there are a lot of things in this world I could give up, but cheese is not one of them lol.

I don't think I could completely give it up, we did for about an 8 week period years ago, but I have learned to use it sparingly and enjoy it

Brie goes nice with some crackers or french bread and strawberries too -- I'm sure but it might be a bit fattier than the goat cheese. I like the soft, rich tanginess of brie too -- haven't had that one in a long time. I've heard of using nutritional yeast as a vegan sub for parmesan (I guess), but I've never tried it.

Yeah, before I was vegan, my fave was doing a brie wheel covered in pecans and brown sugar at Christmas!! So yummy. Or pepper jelly. Really I could eat brie by itself.

I do use nutritional yeast, but it's just not even close. It tastes good, but not like cheese. Saying nutritional yeast is a cheese sub in our house is a running joke - my kids love to call me out on 'vegan delusion' when I say something is good that is a sub for cheese! But they know that I know it's just not the same... The brie from Rebel cheese is literally dreamy though - tastes real. But it's like $20 a wheel so I just can't.

That brie with pecans and brown sugar sounds delightful. I think I'll stick with my small amounts of dairy for now, maybe one day I'll jump on the vegan wheel again.
