he started the mommy and me tumbling last wednesday. so far he is doing pretty good. he doesn't like to jump though lol. he's the only boy. they have seperate boys group when he is 3. it's fun watching him go around to each course. he's 2 and already 36 inches, so he will be an athlete i am sure. :)

That's so cool! My boys have been in gymnastics since they were little and they are now 4 and 6 and still love it! It's so cool to watch them progress and learn new things. I also love the fact that they are running around in the gym for an hour and burning up their energy! ;)

my oldest son is in gymnastics too. he got into it because he was bored sitting through his sister's practices, and he thought it looked like more fun that sitting there. he just finished his level 4 competition season & placed 2nd all-around in the state (i'm a little proud of him!). so you never know where that tumbling class may take him!
even if doesn't end up being a long-term thing for him, i think gymnastics is fantastic as a building block for just about anything and everything they could ever want to do later in life. it's so great for coordination and body awareness!

glad he's liking it so far!!!

That sounds like so much fun!

Rebecca!!! You should have posted to brag about your son! (or maybe you did and I missed) That's awesome! Woot! :) Congrats!

Cool, Rhonda. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to tell my DD to check into our local Y. We've been taking Kennedy to the Little Gym, but they don't start gymnastics until the kids are 3. I think he needs to be in it now (he's two as well). He is really super strong. He is 36 inches tall too. His feet are also huge, so we're a little worried that he'll trip over them soon. LOL. But he can totally lift himself off the ground using just his arms and do all kinds of things that the LG people always tell us kids his age can't do. I'm always hoping there is something that will burn off some of his energy. They laugh at LG because they like to tell me that they have "never seen a kid with as much energy" as he has. Hmmmm.

Congrats, Rebecca! That is so cool about your son!! :)

How fun! :)

I took tumbling around that age too, but my mom had to pull me out because I was horribly uncoordinated and I was ending up terribly black and blue! :giggle

No, I didn't. I mentioned it in one of the PL threads because I didn't have any other pics for the week so I had to do a whole page on his meet. :giggle

Here's a link to my blog post about it, if ou want to see video of some of his routines (and hear me cheering for him in the background... I hate hearing my voice on tape :)): blog post

that is awesome, rebecca! kimberlee...my kid is huge too! he is almost out of a size 8 shoe. he was 36 inches when we took him last month to the dr. he was 35 pounds too! he is one solid kid. he can throw a ball like it's noone's business. now if we could just get out of the terrible 2's lol
