am I the ONLY ONE who HATES summer?

my kids can't get along.
they are constantly bored
they are driving me nuts.

please tell me i'm NOT the only one.
i've always hated summer.
(ever since my oldest started school)
before that they were used to being around each other.
but now it's like they don't know each other AT ALL.

they hate each other and hate me.
seriously.

i am going to GO CRAZY.

Well since I don't have school aged kids, summer is kinda like any other day except they can go outside to play. I saw a really great idea that we are starting this week, maybe this will help?

Summer Bucket List

Ummmm...didn't summer just start like a couple days ago? hahahahha You have a LONG summer ahead of you girl!! LOL! My kids haven't started school yet and are still little monkeys. So this is what I get to look forward to right? :) Emily that summer bucket list is such a good idea!

that IS an awesome idea..
only problem is that my kids are sooooo old.
and to do any of those type of activities
or anything else i TRY to plan.
they either whine, groan and moan.
or finish them up in less than 30 minutes.

i've let all of our zoo, museum, and garden passes run
out because NONE of them want to go any longer.

i've spent money on TONS of crafts
and have created a HUGE craft box
that either lasts all of 20 minutes or makes a BIG
mess that I am left to clean up.

if I am not constantly entertaining them
or on their backs about something or another....
I'm following them around to make
sure they leave each other alone
or don't get into trouble through out the neighborhood.
(they are good kids, but we have a couple questionable neighborhood boys
that if my kids are bored start romping around with them and so I have to stand
outside all the time watching them)

which I did today
and ended up getting squirted in the FACE with a HUGE water gun.

oy.

wouldn't be so bad if I weren't going to enrichment tonight.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

They are required to read every day
and we will go to the library once a week.
we go swimming and to the dollar movie
but i can't do those types of things
every day.
i STILL have things i HAVE to do at home
and jeez, we don't have the money
to keep them entertained like they'd like me too.

can you send them to a Boys and Girls Club, or anything like that?? any of them old enough to work or be counselors at a camp somewhere?

Sorry they are driving you crazy. I actually hated summer as a tween and teen because I had to be around my brother all the time :( Now I wish I wasn't so mean to him, I barely know him. Maybe you can tell them how pathetic that is, LOL.

yeah, i threatened to send them
all to summer school.
HAAAAAAAA

actually they all start one of the following....
volleyball open gym
volleyball camp
football camp
dance lessons
and guitar lessons
swim lessons
and swim team
but none of those things start until next week.
HA!
if they make it until then.
LOL

oh girl. summer has just started! :(

i would have to say that was one of the good things about homeschool. you're never done and you never get used to NOT being around each other.

hard labor. that's my suggestion. ;)

Oh, I feel your pain. My oldest has been completely antsy all week. I think they are used to going, going, going all day at school and being told what to do at all times that they are in withdrawal now. LOL

Hopefully they learn to relax a bit and enjoy their vacation!

you know..
i have to constantly remind myself
it DOES take a few weeks (4-6 weeks for them to adjust...)
right when i think we get the hang of it.........
school starts back up.
LOL

Oh bless your heart. Hope everyone gets into the swing of things too! I'm not a huge fan of summer myself. I have been trying to tap into that "I love summer" feeling of old, when I was a kid. But "meh". And I don't even have a school ager yet, lol. GL sweets!!

I hear you. My kids aren't actually off yet, but with the school slow down, they are starting to get the summer jitters. This year I'm excited though. The two older one's are volunteering. The oldest is volunteering at the hospital and the 12 year old is volunteering at the library. Not only will this keep the a little busy, but I don't have to pay for it!

Maybe there are volunteer opportunities where you live. Or maybe you could inspire them to start a business, like mowing lawns. Maybe your church will have volunteer suggestions.

... just to help you feel better..I am a preschool teacher and I will have 16 preschool children aged 4.5 - 6 EVERYDAY, for EIGHT hours all summer long.. can't wait till September.... lmao!!!!!

Keep smilin'... HUGS!!

OMG Jacque. Mine aren't quite as old as your but OMG it's the same thing here. I started a boredom jar (got the idea from Darcy Baldwin) - if any of them tell me they're bored or don't know what to do, they HAVE to pick a paper out of the jar and they HAVE to do it, no ifs ands or buts. About 2/3 of them are chores ("go pick weeds for 15 minutes" - "go empty all the trash cans" - "organize one of your drawers" etc) and 1/3 are just ideas for things to do ("play legos for 20 minutes" - "make paper airplanes and have a paper airplane contest" - "draw for 20 minutes" - etc). It's working for now - then again, we've only been doing it for 3 days. LOL. And it doesn't help with the fighting.

oh jacque! :giggle it's gonna be a loooong few months! i agree with lauren... good ol' fashioned hard labor ought to shut them up when they start arguing. our pastor once made his 10-yr-old move their entire wood pile from one side of the yard to the other because he was being mouthy and complaining that he didn't have anything to do, blah blah blah. he doesn't complain so much any more. :)

I am so so tired of the back and forth to and from school (he's only in half day kindy)-- but I know i'm going to regret the hoping and wishing for the end of the school year to come as soon as it does (thursday). At least I only have one LOL there's no one for him to fight with but me.. and the animals lol

lmao im glad its just not my kids then jacque and apparently it doesnt ever get any better till they leave home

:giggle i so can relate to this and mine isn`t even in kindergarten yet :hairpol
I can`t wait till august so this boy is minimum a few hours a day out of the house :yesss
