My husband is out of control!

I'm amused by how much my husband has embraced my doing project life each year. He travels a LOT for work (most weeks M-Th), so he's not represented in the day to day stuff that often. He's on a big trip (gone for two weeks) overseas and he's going to a place he's never been (India) for part of the trip. He talked to me beforehand that he would like his travels included in my PL book, so he was going to "try" to take a photo each day. We discussed this and decided that I would document his photos using the Collect app so I can keep things organized. He would send me the photo each day with a caption, I would put them in the Collect app and at the end of his trip, I would make a special section in our book of his trip. Sounds reasonable, right?

The reality... the man is out of control! :lol

He left on Saturday night and since Sunday, I have gotten no less than four photos a day. I got ten yesterday (three of which were of his hotel room - 2 just of his bathroom) and I have nine already today! He's surely going to slow down, right? He's not even made it to India yet. He's in Brighton this whole week before he goes.

I still like the idea of the collect app for his photos since it really keeps things nice and organized for me... but at this rate, the section for his trip is going to be HUGE! I guess I could do a separate book for his trip for him and include some of the highlights in a two page spread for the PL book. Not sure what to do. He's not usually good at taking photos, so I figure due to the fact that he's taking so many, it's important to him to document this trip.

Okay... new thought. Maybe I'll make him a collect app based book of all of his travel for a year (he's had a light travel month so far, so we will have just missed one trip) and just do the highlights of each trip in the PL book. I think this may make the most sense since that's the way I treat all of our trips... highlights in the PL book and details in a separate trip book.

Anyway... I'm rambling! I just love how project life has changed things for us... I didn't document his traveling at all when I just did traditional pages, but since starting PL, so much more gets documented. And I'm thrilled to see how into it all of our family members are! :beat

I love this, Tracie!! I like the idea of doing a separate travel book or him and highlights in your PL book.

My hubby has gotten into it and is helping as well. He'll be out with the kids and text me a pic and say "for your PL" so I can make sure I document everything. :)

It really helps keep the motivation up when you have helpers!!

What if you were to explain to him that you only have so much room in your PL book but to keep sending all the pics to choose from..then surprise him with a travel book at the end of the year. Hearing how into your album he is I bet that would make an awesome present!

It definitely does! The only one who doesn't regularly help is my son (teen boy) :-) My daughter had a sleepover Saturday night and Sunday after her friend left, I started getting a string of photos texted to me. Some weeks, if it wasn't for other people's photos, my pages would be pretty sparse.

Your husband rocks, how exciting that he is so passionate about your PL. I live with my daughter and her family, so sometimes have to rely on them for phone photos of events Im not at. I'm usually lucky if they remember, even if I remind them on their way out the door. I'm sure he doesn't expect you to use all of his photos, he is probably just trying to make sure you make a variety to pick from. I can totally see it as part of your regular PL, even if it requires an extra page a week.

I LOVE this idea... thanks Sarah and Tali for the brainstorming! He's impossible to buy for so this would be a great surprise at Christmas! Given that we talked about this ahead of time, I think I will narrow his photos down to a photo a day to make a two page spread for just this trip for my PL book. After that, I'll tell him how much I enjoyed having so many photos to choose from and having his trips represented in our book, that I would love for him to keep sending a photo (or two or 12) a day each time he travels. I'll make sure that enough of them make it onto my regular pages so he doesn't get suspicious.

I seriously can't believe how much discovering pocket style scrapping and project life has impacted us. I scrapped before (but rarely printed)... but with pocket scrapping, I printed over 350 pages for 2014 alone (that's counting printing two copies of one book as a gift). I may come close to doubling that this year. I love having our stories documented and pages printed in a form we all can enjoy!

Okay... getting mushy :wub

Agree completely!! It has been so amazing to sit down and look at the pages I printed so far for 2014 (printing pages and putting in an album). We remember things we had totally forgotten about and just reminisce. Eric thanks for me for doing this quite frequently. And I'm glad he really gets how important this kind of memory keeping is! He liked my scrapbooking previously, but this really has him on board.

How amazing that your hubby is involved! Love the idea of a travel book at the of the year for him.

That is so awesome that your hubby is excited about getting in your PL book too! I love that you might be able to surprise him with a book all his own of his travels. India sounds very cool too! I hope you get lots more great pictures from him! :)

So far I've just gotten three photos today, so he's slowing down :-)

I know! I think the one things that I love the most about PL is capturing the everyday. Those are the things I love seeing in my books the most. I know I wasn't doing PL back then, but in 2010 I was doing photo-a-day. And because of that, sometimes I would take random everyday photos when I had nothing else. I'm working on a project life book for that year, and in one week alone... I have pics of three things that were major everyday things for us that no longer exist. 1) Here in Chicago we used to take the bus a lot and our favorite was the #11 bus as almost everything we did was along it's route. They discontinued that route probably three years ago. I love that I have a photo in my book now of the kids waiting at that bus stop. 2) Our weekly family night movie rented from Blockbuster (which doesn't exist in our area anymore). And 3) Lunch at our neighborhood burger place that closed last fall. I love having photos of the big events, but I think I love having photos of the little stuff even more.

I love the involvement! I think I'll have to incorporate the helpers part!

I'm a firm believers in helpers!! :-)

Seriously... some weeks have more photos from other people/sources than ones I took myself! Especially with having teens, I rely on a multitude of sources for photos.

I need to get my son to participate but he is a grumpy 17 year old who will look at me like I have two heads. . .

My teen son is the least represented in my book, mainly because he's the least helpful. :-/

I have tried bribing him to at least take one photo when he's out... occasionally I'll get one, but just one.

Your son will thank you for this later in life! :)

I have discovered something wonderful! Yesterday I was talking to my son... apparently they have a constant group chat going with his group of friends. The girls of the group take photos every once in a while and send them to the group! I went through with Alex last night and picked out a few that I wanted for PL. I've asked him to send me any new good ones that get posted. He's good with that... he knows it makes me happy to have photos... but he doesn't have to take them! Oh... and as an added bonus, since the girls in the group take the photos, he's in them!

what a great way to be out of control. No one in my family is good at taking photos - but i love it when they send me some and i always try to include them in my pages.
