Did you ever had that one teacher that made a world of difference in your schooling? This past year my oldest Daughter Azure-lee had that teacher. Mr. Bell always goes way beyond his teacher duties. He invests in every student and gets them excited for learning. Up until this year she was struggling with focusing on her work, not being challenged enough and spending a lot of time socializing when her work was done early and getting into trouble for it. She needed a teacher to challenge her, push her to do her best and keep her learning.
One of the class projects was an introduction to plays and Mr. Bell wanted them to look at Shakespeare. Trouble was he had a hard time finding resources that were geared towards kids. He simply wanted an introduction book that told the kids who he was and what he did. So since they couldn't find one, as a class they decided to write one! They spend the year taking trips to the public library, searching online and researching about Shakespeare's life. They learned how to properly credit their work and wrote a biography. It's published and up on Amazon for sale. All the proceeds earned from the sale of this book go towards classroom resources and towards the schools library.
This work was truly 100% the students, they even designed the cover, choose what chapters to include and divided up the work among themselves. I'm ever so proud of my daughter and her class. They are only in grades 4 and 5!
I wanted to share this with all of you. Please don't feel like you have to buy the book, but any purchases would be totally awesome!
