Welcome to the Art Journaling Monthly Muse!

Muse:
verb: to reflect deeply on something
noun: the source of artistic inspiration

This past Mixed Media Monthly (M3) kit made me think of Frida Kahlo, why? Maybe it was the bold colors or maybe it was all the nature elements, stamps that were part of the kit. The thing is I love Frida, I love her dark art and I love the POP ART influence that people are adding to the vision of her.

This month I will be using Frida art work and work art inspired by Frida as our inspiration. If you don't care for Frida please still join us and use any of the amazing faces and dolls in the store or around the internet.

Here is my mood board, but I created an even bigger board in PINTEREST HERE.

WEEK #3 Inspiration: Frida - Face
WEEK #3 Challenge: COLLAGE
Not sure if I need to add any more explanation than just the word COLLAGE, but here it goes. This week I would love for you to try your hands to collage. Think back to the times of scissors, glue and paper and just have fun.

Not too long ago I did a "Why It Works | Scissors, stickers and pasting!" that totally makes me think of collaging. In that thread I have an older video where I explain how to give the look of cutting with scissors in Photoshop. (Here is the video but if you want more collage ideas go check out the "Why It Works | Scissors, stickers and pasting!" thread.

Here is my page for Week #1:

My page for week #2:

NOTE:
Available still are the template set from Scrapping with Liz if you decide to go the "Skinny" route, but of course you don't have to you could make a full page. If you do decide to go for the Skinnies but haven't got the template from last month, you can find the templates available HERE. In addition Christa created one cool triangle template that you could use (Christa's awesome template is HERE).

Once you are ready to share your page make sure you added to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE and then post it in this thread. To do so, copy the 3rd link on the right hand side of your LO, the one that reads :

Fun! I once did a collage class with Claudine Hellmuth, my collage heroine, and this reminded me of that (a little).

I was inspired by @jesskab 's layout in the "scissors" thread and created a cutout. Originally he was there in and out of the photo, but I like the cutout version so much better.

We have two of her original artworks, one of my husband and son and one of us as a family at the zoo. They are really wonderful!

Okay here's mine :)

For the eyes, I cut out the eyes from one of the elements by Paula Kesselring from M3 October 2016
The bird I cut out of the journal card from M3 June 2016
For the flowers I used the flowers and leaves from Claire by Rebecca McMeen and a paper from Eerie Shadows by Tangie Baxter and cut them out.
