Monitor calibration

I have Spyder too.....I don't think I have ever done my new laptop though.

screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech? what is this? I have two screens, and I can not for the life of me get them to match? what is this spyder you speak of?
tell me more please?

It helps you get your screen to a point that it isn't different to what you're going to print, basically. Very, very useful if you've ever had a photo that you thought was awesome turn out revolting when it went to the printer (although that could always be the printer). But it's good to know your edits and scrapping and stuff are actually accurate.

I second Spyder.

I recommend trying this test to see how good you're doing at the moment anyway (it's 'how you see color'):

I don't know why I do that every time someone posts it, because it's excruciating. And I always screw up the blues.

But I got 15. Not bad for an old lady, I guess.

ok, just checked Spyder on Amazon.......I guess it is best to get the more expensive version that works on multiple computer screens if I will be using the laptop screen and a 2nd monitor? At $249 that may have to be a Christmas present.

I do that too :) I've taken it about 20 times. And I never get any better. I think I usually mix up a few of those nice muddy pinks.

That was a fun test. I got 19. Could have been worse.

Hmmm...but with a laptop the colors look different with different openings of the top, the monitor part...It also varies how bright/dark the colors are...hope it's to understand what I mean...
And the colors also look different depending on the light you have around, if you work day or night...

it was fun: Online ColorIQ Challenge Results --- Your score: 86

I got an 8 on the test which isn't so bad I guess?

I bought monitor calibration software a couple years back and it totally screwed up my computer. It wasn't Spyder. I've been scared to do it again since.

I use the monitor calibration that comes with my iMac. So far so good :)
