I often feel like that with MOC, maybe at least for me it's the challenges really stretching me that helps push my creativity a bit more.

Yes. For me also though, it's having a theme or a style to start with that gets me thinking how I'm going to do it. With most of my scrapping for CT, it's the kit that starts it.
