For a little inspiration today, I thought I'd share a fun process video from the artist Roben-Marie. She is part of the Documented Life Project (I'm not sure if she is still doing it, but I think Jennifer was part of that last year). Roben-Marie creates a lot of mixed media and art journal pages. Her work is always bright and colorful.

Here's a peek at how she works.

Journal cards, paint, stamps, paper scraps, stencils. A whole lot of yum.

I hate to admit this makes me want to get all physical and grab some markers, paint and paper to get messy.

But a lot of this can be translated to digi. Have you ever used digital stencils? What fun! Here is a tutorial that Don did awhile ago about creating digital stencils.

Think of all that you can do with those!

Just watched this.... why do you "hate to admit...."? I want to also. Mostly I wanna know her supplies. What kinda paint dries that fast?! And how do you know when it's.... "done"?

I've been doing the Documented Life Project for 2015 all in digital, all just to challenge myself. I'm on week 33??? which was just posted this past Saturday. I just have a hard time finding time and room for paints. Plus, it is that fear of the unknown holding me back, I'm sure. Kristina, I do know that for the current year, at least, the artists do tell you what supplies they've used for each week. Sometimes there are videos, but most often there are steps done via multiple photos. You do have to sign up to view the archives (I believe), but to sign up is free.

I guess my "hate to admit" is because I really want to do it... get out one of my million journals... and paint and get all artsy, but I'm a chicken. LOL. I just feel like I have more control over digital in a way. I can't really screw anything up if it is digital. Just Ctrl Z and everything is fine. Not so much when you are doing it for real in a book. I want everything to look like I have it in my mind, and I don't think my skills are up to the task.

I didn't realize this was a project to look into.... now I will!!!

I've been looking at my art journal as a place to learn lessons. Like it's my practice journal. I have not, and will not for a while probably, drawn in my big "fancy" sketchbook. (It was a whopping $4 on Michael's clearance rack! :giggle)

I have yet to use actual paint in my journal, other than gesso'd half the pages. I bought watercolor pencils to play with, which I haven't, and have tons of acrylic paint that I haven't opened in ages. I have, however, tangled on 3 pages, and actually used it as a journal for an entry since I made it, 3-4 weeks ago :D

My last pocket letter to Carrie, I experimented with alcohol inks on paper. (They are not meant for paper.... whoops!) As well as a Copic marker. (I don't really like it... :O *shocker*)

I've just tried not focusing on what it "should" look like, because I don't really know how the materials actually look and feel yet. Maybe, once I have my feet a little wetter, I will suffer from this same thing. Lol. Having an image in my head I f what *should* happen, and scared that it won't. ......
