Our roads on our street have been bad for years!! we were the last ones in this area to get them done. It is being done right now! I seriously could sit for hours and watch them!

my boys make lunch bring up a chair and sit in awe for hours!
What about you? I am the same with house construction too! just love seeing it!?
is there something else that gets you staring and find yourself losing time?
lol

Well, this summer there was an auction being held in my neighborhood. I put a lawn chair in my garage where I had a direct view and watched all the people come and go. I've not sure if there has ever been an auction in the neighborhood but since I was always working, I never saw them. There was even a porta-potty in the yard for several days!

Fascinating... 2.5 hours and it was done!

Anne, I used to watch construction for a living. I used to be a Civil/Structural Engineer. Nowadays when I see construction work I watch for the new machinery or techniques, or explain what's going on to my mesmerised children.

I'm the fidgety type, I don't think I could sit and watch something for ages.

Yes!! When I worked downtown when it was cooler I'd eat outside in the common grounds and just watch people for an hour. Always wondered where they were going or who they were going to go and see.

Count me in with @bbymks5 and @IntenseMagic on people watching. That's one of my favorite things about living in the city... so many people to watch!

When I lived in a city in the 80's and near a mall, I would go and just sit and people watch (usually while eating my Baskins-Robbins ice cream cone). Now that I'm back in my hometown which is much smaller, I don't get to people watch.

When I first moved to Chicago and worked in the loop.... my friend and I used to create imaginary lives for the people we saw on our bus ride home. :-)

I love to watch people and make up lives for them too! Years ago, when it wasn't an arm and a leg to park at San Fran AirPort...my mom and I would go for hours and just watch people. The stories we would make up...so fun!

Haha we make up stories about people all the time! They are pretty hilarious!!

side note...
@bbymks5 your new avatar is gorgeous!!

Add me to the construction watchers! I have a window office at work and directly across the road my company is building a fancy new $19 million giant building. I've been watching it going up all summer! I just love watching the big machines doing their thing. I think it would fantastically fun to get to harness that kind of power and move earth and lift heavy things. :)

At one point this summer they were redoing the road in front on my office AND building the new building. It really is amazing the difference even I can see in the skill levels between the two groups! The road crew had 4 people standing and watching one guy working A LOT of the time, but the construction crew is like a well oiled machine! Nobody is standing around there!

When I am waiting for an appt or a flight I often people watch. Lately all I see in waiting rooms etc is people with their heads bent all looking at their phones! Ha Ha.. I think in a few years lots of chiro appts with all of peoples neck issues!! LOL

Not to the point of making up stories about them, but... don't laugh I look at their feet... This started years ago when I had a friend with quite bad arthritis , and she used to have empathy for people who limped a bit. Anyway every time we would sit down somewhere, sooner or later the conversation would go like this " poor soul, how can she walk in those shoes, must be really painful " and so on. My friend has passed away ( I miss her ) but I still look at feet !:giggle

I love to watch my hubby mow the grass. There's something quite satisfying about watching it become all neat and trimmed - like magic! LOL

I've mentioned this before, but I'm mesmerized by people cleaning. There are YouTube videos of people speed cleaning their houses. When I was really limited in mobility, it made me feel better to know SOMEONE was cleaning. Ha!

I like watching animals be stupid. LOL!! And people being stupid... but not so much people doing normal things, haha!!
Here are some for your mesmerised viewing entertainment:
