I moved from the Netherlands to the USA in 2001. To Florida to be exact. Ever since I moved here I wanted to go see the manatees in the state park but every time something came in between. FINALLY we made it there today! There were 250 manatees in the spring today also with lots of babies nursing so that was a beautiful sight :) I have lots of pictures but I think this one came out best. It's one of the baby manatees :heartslub And this is in Blue Spring State Park in Florida by the way if you are ever in the area ;) The manatees are only there when the outside temperature is below 72F as the water temp of the springs are 72F year round which is why they swim there as other areas where they normally are get too cold which will kill them.

i LOVE manatees - but i think the most we have ever seen at one time was three or four. beautiful photo!
 
That's incredible! I've always wanted to go on one of those boat rides where you paddle around with the manatees.
 
Isn't Blue Springs gorgeous? It's amazing to ride past the manatees when they are headed that way.
 
what an amazing experience!! i love when we're able to get a glimpse of the side of nature we never get to see
 
I love manatees, I remember seeing them from REALLY far away at the beach when I was in college. I would love to be able to see them this close and this free!
 
So cool! We are going to Florida in April and are going to some place North of Clearwater to see the Manatees and kayak with them. I hope we see some too! :)
 
I love Blue Springs! It's one of our favorite parks. Great picture ~
 
I love the Manatees Petra! When I would be at my Dad's in Merritt Island (by Port Canaveral/ Kennedy Space Center) I used to lay on the dock and feed them lettuce and give them fresh water. The last time I saw them I counted at least 15 in the canal... babies, Mom's and Dad's... lots of families of them. Sadly Dad passed away, and we sold his house, however some great memories sitting outside on the dock and seeing these beautiful creatures!!

Ohhhh how amazing! I have long loved manatees and so hope to see them one day! So glad you got to experience it!!
