mac vs windows filenames

I came across a folder of alphas using the character of it in the filename, kept getting parameter wrong, they look ok, but will they cause me problems in the future

file was AllisonPennington_Apr14_RainRain (Rubber Alpha) in the bundle pack 2

and filmhappyplastic (red)

What was getting what parameter wrong? I have these alphas and haven't had any problems with them.

using windows to unzip, no errors using winrar, i extracted to a thumb drive, gonna maybe rename of the the alphas before i put on this drive

Kari do you have a crystall ball to follow Bart? LOL

I have no idea about this but in my experience, if you rename, adapt, try make the name short....Mac is so far better than windows....also, Cath...go get your online back up girl....no more problems for you if something goes wroing, you recover your file....

If you use Windows built-in extractor, there is a 250-character limit on the full path. Not just the file name, but where it is on your drive. If you extract somewhere with a shorter path, or if you use another program like WinRAR, there are no problems. There is no need to rename files. Once they are extracted, they're there. It's fine.

Could that be the issue you're having?

It's unrelated to the characters in the file name or anything to do with Macs, but it seems like that might be what you're describing.

Lorry, you amaze me with your ability to even have a clue what Cath is talking about. It's all over MY HEAD!!!
