Since the recent upgrade to the photos app, I am unable to drag photos directly from Photos (used to be iPhotos) to Photoshop. It is so frustrating! I am a drag and drop type girl. The only way I can get my photos into PS now is to copy the photo to the desktop and drag it in to there.

Anyone have a trick to be able to get photos from Photos into PS?

Not yet. I loved drag and drop. I keep two libraries -scrap and Photos. I could drag anything... Png, jpg or psd's. Right now, I export originals to the desktop for png/psd. I can drag and drop jpg files to the desktop.

There will pry be an update that will allow this or at least a Plug-In eventually.

I don't think it's too bad, actually. I think it will be updated quickly to address some of the concerns that people are having. I rather like the connection to my photos on all devices, as well as the look and feel are now similar to my phone/ipad. It def is a bit faster for me. It just needs some getting used to it. After a week, I like it. :)

Note though.... go through and delete what you don't want to carry over/tramsfer to Photos. I moved over all my photos and libraries (one for scrapping and one for pictures)... then I realized that I wanted to move my 2014 pictures off the HD and onto an EHD. I moved and deleted the photos from Photos.... but the size/space was not lowered on my HD. It's because it refrences the iPhotos library instead of the Photos library. I deleted my old iPhotos library of images (I was freaking, but had back up), and it all was back to normal. It took awhile only because it wouldn't empty the trash... I had to manually get code and type it in through Terminal. It wasn't pretty and took a few tries.

I never liked or used iPhoto and did not know that it switched forms.

Are you using full PS or PSE? If PS, then you can work through Bridge and then drag and drop. I think PSE has a Library that is similar to Bridge.

I loved iPhotos. I think in time I will like Photos. I actually didn't like Bridge, lol - We are opposites, Molly! :)

You should be able to drag and drop jpg files, to the desktop, not the actual software.

I use full PS. From what I can understand there was a hefty upgrade (by no means professional) to the editing skills of Photos. So, right now, there is no way right now to easily drag and drop to an "outside editor" for your photos. (http://www.imore.com/how-use-external-editor-photos-os-x)

Thanks ladies!

I do have the full version of PS....I have been a PS user for 10 years!! I think I have had almost every version except one of them.

I just hate change! My scrapping has gone way down since getting my iMac b/c of my workflow. I need to go back to my yearly/monthly picture folders and be done with it! Photos just isn't cutting it anymore!
