I had fun getting to know Sara better for this LOD. She has long been a craft crush of mine, so I was thrilled to get to ask her some questions (I gave her my answers to them too, so it wasn't a one-way exchange LOL).

Tell us about your home life...

As a military family we lived in many places in the US and since my husband’s retirement from active duty, we have been calling Ohio home. We have two children (ages 17 and 9) so I find myself in two very different seasons of parenthood, simultaneously. Our oldest is in their final semester of high school and very busy with a variety of clubs. I homeschool my nine year old which is where my lens is focused most of the time when I'm not delving into creative work or supporting the Lilypad in admin-y ways.

How did you start scrapping (and designing)?

I have always had a love for story keeping in some form or another. Before I began scrapbooking my memories, I kept memories through journaling, collecting personal ephemera and taking photos. Then I found and fell in love with memory keeping, both analog and digital. I scrapped for years before I began designing. My design journey began 14 years ago and has roots in my own scrapbooking. (And once upon a time, many moons ago, I was a Polly here at the Pad). Initially I was encouraged to create page designs based on my scrapbook pages and my design work was solely template centric. Soon thereafter I began handcrafting elements and designing kits. I joined the design team here at The Pad in the Autumn of 2010.

Tell us about your favorite kits.

I love love my various Pocket Maps and they are probably my most used. But my most favorite products are still my Story Seeds: Artifacts and Story Seeds: Friend because they are most indicative of my style and heart for storytelling.

I also really love Plant Your Story because it is my quintessential heartsong product and one that showcases my evolved design style: story-centric ephemera and illustrations.

Do you have any pets?

We do! We have two cats who we love dearly. Kofa, a chonko and grumpy old lady cat who is 12 and a kitten named Autumn. Autumn came to our family shortly after we lost our beloved void kitty, Shadow who had loved us well for 12 years.

What's your guilty pleasure?

I need dark chocolate in my life every day.

Do you have a favorite vacation destination or thing to do?

I was born and raised just a few miles north of Chicago, and that beautiful city by the lake has always been home to my heart in many ways, even though it’s now been years since I’ve lived there. And now it’s become my favorite place to go back to, if that makes sense. My most favorite thing to do is sitting in the space where stories are made. Those simple little moments and everyday details. The things that sometimes get lost in the white noise of living but really are the heart of it all. Like my youngest daughter laughing with her Daddy. Seeing my oldest child grow into the person they were made to be. A really tasty meal shared with those I love. Good music.

Do you have a favorite season?

Autumn is my most favorite, forever and ever.

What’s your favorite place to eat at, where you live?

My husband and I are a little food snobbish and we really enjoy going out to dinner for date night. One of our favorites is Sotto. The menu and mood are tremendous.

Do you have a favorite color?

I really do love most colors, especially the ones painted in nature. But the one I find myself *needing* in most designs is a good pink. I love pinks. And I absolutely believe pink is a neutral.

How do you relax?

I love to soak up time with my family, watch the Chicago Cubs when they are playing, learn about natural health and gardening, and spend time outside whenever I can.

I had to scrap with my ALL TIME fave product by Sara - Giggle Snort. I am all about laughter and my life is filled with it, so I use this kit A LOT.

I love these kits!! I'm going to see if I have any in my stash and work on my first layout in a few years!

Edited:
I did it! I had to redownload my PSP 9 ( Yes, I seriously need to update!) and re-learn the program and how to scrap again! I noticed I forgot to add shadows in a few places but I'll remember the next layout. I just wanted to do one page before bed and it's 2 am now! I'm going to post now so I hope I remember how to do the gallery and posting images in posts. Geez, it's been so long!

I love Sara's design. I always bought her Grab Bags for the fabulous templates that I've been used for years. Here I used an old kit that I love Olive Tree with Persimmon. Will check her shop now :)

This is actually a very typical way a layout is "born" for me. I was browsing Sara's store and I saw one wordart in the kit Family Almanac. It said "it's in our DNA" - and I knew what I was going to do for today. I changed it to my DNA and here's the layout:

Here's a layout I made 1 year ago (yesterday to be honest). I wonder if it was Sara's day for LOD last year? It's a play list of what was playing on the radio while I was making the page.

That is so weird Marilyn @mcurtt I can see everything, I went in and refreshed, so hopefully it is fixed for you now?
Sorry... still the same as before.

I tried clicking on the little IMG icon. I get the following error message:
