Welcome to the final day of the Love Our Designers event.
It is always a joy to celebrate what each designer brings individually to the Pad and today is a chance to celebrate the magic those designers collectively bring when they team up for their awesome Collaboration kits!

:heartlub All the TLP Designers TOGETHER are Our Daily Crush!:beat

The great news is that if you've missed a bloghop or a previous store team collab kit, that whole category of the store will be on sale for a whopping 50% off!!

Make sure you are signed up for all things TLP to see what's coming next!

This event isn't a traditional CHALLENGE in that there aren't any real rules. It’s a fun event to scrap with products from a fave designer or try a new (to you) designer. It’s all about having fun and celebrating the uniqueness of all of our Lilypad Designers!

The TLP Collabs section of the store is both a trip down memory lane and a stash building gold mine! I remember collecting pieces of You Make Me Smile, then Summer Stories and Wicked Smart when I was new here. These cover just about any colour in the rainbow you could want to start a page with and have some really versatile wordart and elements!

And like any community, there have been some hard times that we have shared, including Dawn passing away, and that can be seen and felt in this part of the store, and some of the support provided and the way this community has evolved is evident to me in these kits too. These collabs will always have a special place in my heart. I have missed a few along the way though so let me catch you up on a few that just caught my eye!

Hey! Are you curious like me and want to know a bit about how these cool coordinated team kits happen?

You are! Well, today's your lucky day!
Read on to hear about the process straight from Laura (spoiler alert: there's a lot of teamwork, it's not by magic or happy coincidence!) and some of the designers have also been kind enough to share some of their process and how it feels to be part of a something bigger!
  • "Most of our collaborative products for iNSD or DSD begin several weeks in advance. The process begins by taking a look at the themes and color palettes for previous years. Then the entire design team makes suggestions for both the theme and colors for the current year, and all those suggestions are put to a vote. This sounds easy, but it takes quite a bit of time and effort as we are always looking for fresh ideas so that we are providing new, innovative and useful products for our community. After the theme and color palette have been finalized, then the design team begins creating. Each designer creates a specified number of papers and embellishments, and some designers create alphas, journal cards, or templates.

The blog hop and free-with-purchase products associated with our iNSD and DSD free-with-purchase collaborations have to be complete and ready weeks ahead as our blog hops begin a couple of weeks prior to our iNSD and DSD celebrations. Previews for the free-with-purchase collaborations, along with the blog hop graphics, are usually created by me, but sometimes a design team member will assist me. I create the blog hop list, and I, along with other design team members, will check to make sure all the links are good before the blog hop goes live to our community.

There's a tremendous amount of effort on the part of our entire team to bring these special collaborative products to you. Our sincerest hope is that you will enjoy using them in your memory keeping for years to come." - Laura
  • Sometimes being a Scrapbook Designer can feel a little isolated, frequently working alone, staring at those same four walls and planning your own individual schedule and routines. When a rotation comes around to work with the wider Lilypad team, it's a lot of work, but it's an exciting time. For me personally, it brings joy to see the team all huddling together in one thread and working closely together.

Team Kits are brainstormed in advance by the design team. We gather colour inspiration, mood boards, theme ideas, often recapping on previous years work. Then they are all packed into a list and we vote on our favourites. It's always exciting to see which idea comes out trumps!

Once this process is complete the designers will volunteer if they want to work on a more specific part of the collaboration such as templates, cards or alphas and solid papers. If we are working on papers and elements we have a directive as to how many of each we create so that the end kit is jam packed with the right amount of everything and ready to make beautiful scrapbook pages :)" - Rachel Jefferies
  • "The blog hop and FWP products are magic, but the process to getting to the end magical product is hard work." - Nicole/NBK Design
  • "One of the fun parts about our collaborations is that we are basically given a word and a few colors. It's awesome to see products come to life in so many different but also so many similar ways. As designers in a shop as close as this one is, I think we are all tapped into a collective heart; a certain message or mission that we share and love sharing with our fans. That's why our collaborative products can have so many different styles but also have the same positive soul." - Renne/ForeverJoy Designs
  • "Sometimes it's crazy as we usually make our collabs in the middle of busy times preparing for iNSD, DSD or storewide sales, but it's always exciting working as a team. I LOVE discovering the final result when Laura posts the final previews! :beat We all do our best to help organizing and to make sure everything goes well." - Soco/Designed by Soco
  • "By practicing kindness, we create a more supportive world around and within us here at TLP. We all need more kindness in our lives . . . especially in the times that we are living in. That’s one of the reasons we designers at TLP love to make collaborations. It’s our chance to practice kindness and receive smiles and happiness in return. Practicing kindness makes our lives so much better!" -Paula Kesselring
  • "Store collaborations really showcase all of the things that make The Lilypad the Lilypad: a beautifully diverse collection of art and stories with a heart firmly rooted in memory making and memory keeping. And the process of *making* these collections always reveals how fantastically talented this group of women is and how wonderfully our products complement one another. It's synergy at its very best." - Sara Gleason

And now, with a new appreciation for the heart and teamwork that goes on behind the scenes, this is the new page I made for today with the beautiful recent collab, Compass. The preview only shows a few of the things in this massive kit - I used one of the included templates as well as papers and pieces from so many different designers.

*(If you've been following the TLP blog, I've started a Mash-up series and let me tell you, using a collab kit is the easiest way to transition from one kit scrapping to a mash-up page ever!)

Now it's your turn!

(Just a note to say I've already tagged Laura that the store sale doesn't seem to be active yet but it's bedtime here; I'm sure it will be turned on manually as soon as possible - thanks for understanding and i look forward to seeing your pages tomorrow)

Just to update
The sale should now be active on the collabs (except for the two remembrance/benefit collabs), and the sale has been extended through tomorrow. We're so sorry for the inconvenience!

This is so great Justine! I loved being able to read more about how those collabs come together. Thanks for asking that question and for all the designers and Laura for giving us a peek behind the curtain. :D

Lilypad collabs are the best! I loved reading about them too.

I must admit I don’t use store collabs nearly enough so this is an awesome chance to crack into them.

Awesome read Justine.. thanks for hosting.. I love the collabs.. not only for the blog hop but the FWP parts too.. there is always an abundance of goodies and also a great way to try out elements and papers from a designer you haven't used before. The recent Compas one is a fabuous one!

I always ADORE our store's collaborations! Every designer's part goes perfectly with the rest!

This has been such a fabulous event! Thank you to all the designers and Pollys that made this happen :).

A quick comment to say, I’ve got a number of store collabs in my cart but not all are showing 50% off, should they all be on sale? @lmccandless

Also @bellbird, thanks for linking your mash up series of blog posts, look forward to seeing more. Good reminder to check out the blog more often too as I’d totally missed those posts.

I used the collab Rituals: Evening, one of several I own. I would like to get another one but the sale doesn't seem to be working yet; I'll check again later.

I enjoyed learning about the process of creating these collabs.
