It's been quite a few years since we have had a vacation, but in April of 2006 we were blessed with a vacation in a vacation. Our trip to Daytona Beach started with us blowing the engine in our van. The warranty was up just 10 miles past. We were stuck in Tennessee for 9 days waiting for a new engine. Finally we were back on the road. We decided not to let this repair ruin our vacation. We had a wonderful time visiting our favorite places. We love going to parks. At the end of our stay, and after the van was packed to go home, I talked my husband into stopping one last time at our most cherished park. While there we spotted the turtle. My husband looked at that turtle, and then at me and said, “ Let's go to the Keys.” He talked me into it, and today we joke how we made a left turn instead of a right lol. It was our first and last time in the Keys, and we had an awesome time. We didn't know Wyland was there. We watched him paint his last wall in the U.S. It was a magical 7 day!

Day 31 - Traveler's Notbook

font Digi Jenlin

My 91 year old mother-in-law Joan and I have been friends for 40 years now. When I married Wayne I was only 22. I grew up in a not so good situation. I have not spoken to my parents in over 30 years. Joan guided me whenever I needed a friend, or Mom. So it's no surprise to my husband that we agreed to move in with her to keep her happy in her home. She was diagnosed with having Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. Moving in to comfort her at times of confusion and fear has been hard and rewarding at times. Most times now she won't know who we are, or where she's at, but seeing her smile does my heart good knowing I'm there for her as she was there for me.
